If I lose GPS, how does it know speed and that its above the threshold to turn from parking to defense?

I will change the config to alert GPS loss to longer periods of loss.
Am I able to configure the file online from my android, same to phone and upload it via bluetooth or am I always going to have to use USB and plug into unit?

The ALP System will however still protect you for a few minutes when you lose GPS Signal completely (Not Weak Signal.... No Signal at all). After several minutes the system will come back out of Defense Mode until it see's active signal again.

The system still works for what i believe to be up to five minutes without any GPS signal. before you get screwed up.

I have my LID speed set to 24mph. If I enter a tunnel doing 20mph (defense not active), lose GPS, and pick up speed to 50mph, without GPS knowing my speed to activate defense how would I be protected?

Also,

Am I able to configure the file online from my android, same to phone and upload it via bluetooth or am I always going to have to use USB and plug into unit?

Also,
THere are a good other 5 threads on this same subject which has been beat to death. Please leave this firmware thread about the latest firmware and issues with the current firmware release.

I don't know if my issue is firmware or hardware, but after being out of the country a few weeks, I drove today and my ALP/NetRadar DSP combo went thru an auto firmware update. Since then the system now errors immediately with: warning, error 5, control box malfunction, disconnect from power, service required. I tried restart, usb drive config, and Bluetooth reset, all failed. In fact bluetooth options are grayed out.

On startup, the app finds the ALP w/ the proper serial # via bluetooth but then immediately begins the warning and locks up. I read an earlier post on manual reset, but I can't get the system to respond to the button inputs with the led light sequence suggested. Long press doesn't work as described, etc. The control box is an older v2. Suggestions welcome - obviously prefer not to have to dig the unit out of its buried location, but if that's the only solution, is the newer box worthwhile or just get a normal replacement?

Should have nothing to do with a firmware update but could be a BT connection issue. You will have to get to the control box and try connecting the wired controller directly to the CPU bypassing the BT Module and try to start it up. If you still have Error 5 from the controller then you either have a power issue or the CPU has failed. New CPU's are $300 but you can send it in out of warranty to get it replaced for $149 and get a new warranty.

The wired controller and led lamp are already connected, along with bluetooth. As long as I don't have my phone on, wouldn't that be the same as bypassing bluetooth? Without the phone in the car, on startup the led turns green, then red then off immediately. No further response from any of the controller buttons. Looks like it starts and just stops. With the phone, the bluetooth finds the unit correctly but then throws the error 5 message continuously.

I had it all installed at a shop (Hurley's in Virginia) and can't get at the controller myself. So, to replace the controller what is the best course of action? Can I buy the unit directly, then have it installed/replaced and then return the original. Or do I order it through the shop, and will the same pricing apply? I want to keep it to one install/replace if possible.

Depends what the issue is. If the BT Module failed it could prevent the wired controller from working also so you need to verify if the CPU is causing the issue by bypassing the BT module with connecting the wired controller directly to the control port. Right now your wired controller is connected to the BT module and the BT Module is connected to the control port.

Any chance the install shop made custom cables? I know that when I made a custom short cable from CPU to BT module and flipped the connector when I crimped it on, it behaved really strangely.

It was working fine for a couple of months after the install. It just happened that the problem cropped up right after the firmware update and I thought it might be a corrupt file or something. I guess, based on BRD's comments, that it was coincidence. Now I just have to find out which part failed. I was hoping to do it in one shot, but it looks like a minimum of 2 visits now - one to find which part and one to install again after a new order. Hour drive each way was why I wanted to avoid going twice.

Can you access the CPU? If so we can help you troubleshoot it.

That's the $64k question. I'm not sure where they buried it and if it is easily accessible for a fumblefingers like me. I'll look into it this weekend. It's a 2018 Mercedes S560 and a bit complicated to dig into, which is why I had Hurley's do the work. If I can get at it, I'll let you know and ask for help. Thanks.

Well, hmm, I'm getting some weird issues as the temperature starts to plummet below freezing now.

I've had two issues just today. The first one was:

1) ALP fired up as the car fired up, and it stayed in 'green' mode. When I cycled profiles, it went to Profile B (detect only) then C (parking), so I know when it was in the 'green' mode it was in A (detect/defense). After I cycled back to A though, everything worked fine.

2) For the first time, in like ever, I started up the car and the ALP stayed off. Once I manually powered on the ALP, everything worked fine.

This is really really strange. Just as a kind reminder

1) I use the security key
2) Everything jams fine
3) GPS works great.

No problems if above freezing!

I've had that power on issue when my system was installed in a different vehicle. Seemed like it was something to do with the ALP not getting enough voltage during start, or the car cutting power momentarily when the starter cranks (this is normal), and then ALP needed to be manually powered on.

When I went to install it in the new car, it hasnt done it since.

@BestRadarDetectors now that the LID Speed is enforced on HW2, With ALPConnect I've noticed that if I have an active radar lockout while in yellow detect mode (stopped at a light near a drugstore K locked out), if I start driving above the LID Speed with the active lockout, the APP still shows Detect mode (Yellow)!!!! I do not have anyone to test with to see if ALP would jam in this scenario. Has anyone else noticed this with the latest firmware???

Can you make me a video showing this? I cant duplicate it. Lockouts are done in the app and not the CPU so there might be a display issue in the app. Can you tell me if the external LED is not changing?

I think I'm still having issue where the ALP keeps blinking red. I got hit with poliscan, probably a false but it wouldn't stop blinking for more than 3 minutes. I had to turn off the system and turn it back on. Any source of real or false poliscan would have long been gone by then and even if it was still targeting me, wouldn't it alert after k rebooted the system?

This is a video after 3 minutes of being hit with poliscan. I was pressing buttons on the control pad to see if anything would change but I could only turn it off. I had Poliscan turned on because I was heading to Maryland. Otherwise, my poliscan is off.
