So I recently got my R7 it’s been about 3-4 weeks now and it’s been good (AT FIRST) . So on Tuesday I was driving on I-90 and got a KA band warning ,arrow was pointing forward about a mile or 2 Leo was stationary in the middle of the interstate as I passed him u would think the arrow would change down instead of up since a “down” arrow means behind you well my R7 changed for like a few second then kept on pointing forward .. with a high full blast alert, it was obviously still picking up the radar of that HP but why was the arrow still pointing forward when he was behind me . And no their wasn’t any other Leo coming from the front .??? And it happen to me again yesterday in town .. I was going west crossed an intersection in town cop was coming up north as soon as I passed him my radar went off “ as I was passing him” arrow pointing forward again with in a few hundred feet it changed to behind me... is this a normal thing on the R7 ? It seems like it needs some adjustments.. or do I hAve a bad unit ?

Are you sure those were signals coming from those cars, could there have been other vehicles where the radar came from that you did not notice?

The ramp up on the R7 is too quick - I can be a mile or so away from the source and it will go off full tilt, sometimes I think the source is the first LEO vehicle I see, but it could be the second vehicle that is out a distance. Sometimes you don't see the source at all with the R7s sensitivity.

There could also be a big sign or other item where the radar is bouncing from in front of your car and emanated from behind. The R7 may see the bounced signal from the front of the vehicle as the strongest signal, rather than the source .

This is due to surrounding objects causing reflections. I’ve had encounters similar to what you’re describing, and also encounters where the arrows transition perfectly. I’m sure some refining is still needed, but I doubt you have a bad unit. @Kennyc56 up for testing the arrows on another R7?

I've tested 2 of them so far and they acted just alike. In my area, which is pretty rural they work great and the ramp is good and the arrows also work pretty good. They get sketchy however when there is a lot of objects for radar to bounce off of and reflect back to that rear horn it seems to get confused somewhat. I still prefer my own setup however! Both my R1/Redline and dual R1 setups are killing it for Jane and I! They act the same no matter what and the ramps are perfect! Of course, as most of you know I'm on the hardcore side and love both the R1 and Redline ramps! But yes @mattguy10 , to answer your question hell yes! I'm always up to test anything you guys want and to help out anyway I can, just let me know!

Yes I thought about that.. it could possibly be, I have to keep an eye on it more and see how it keeps reacting .. I do agree tho the R7 gets confused when there’s a lot of objects around , takes a while for it to get the directional arrows right but it only happens in certain occasions .

Yes, the arrows are not super accurate. They are getting better with the new beta firmware we have, well on my unit especially.

The 1st one I purchased about a month ago had a completely dead rear antenna. I sent it in for a replacement and It has performed perfectly with pretty quick transitions from front to rear.

I will say the above situation is why I like the Spec FR1 on the 360 as it shows the strength of the signal coming into each antenna.
