I bought an R1 a few weeks back. My 30 mile commute is pretty rural. The first stretch is 4 lane and a HP sits beneath the hill quite often. He faces the hill and nabs them as they crest it. The terrain is pretty flat otherwise. I have been hoping he would be out there so I could check out the detector. I got a chance twice last week.
First time_- I got a KA warning but was along way from where he sits. It would go off and then quiet down. As I got almost to the crest of the hill it really ramped up. Come over and there he was.
Second time- I got a hit in the same spot as I initially had before. I expected similar results but it was quiet the rest of the way. When I got to the spot he had someone pulled over. I figured thats why I only got the one burst. So how far away was I when I got the initial warnings? 4 miles!! I am past impressed.

Welcome! yes the R1 can give you some pretty long alerts for sure, my personal record is 8.2 miles against 34.7, but the terrain was basically perfect... you wont always get that range, but even in tough terrain you have about the best chance of any detector out there!

That's why longer range is better. LEO shooting I/O was no match for the R1. Glad you got to experience it.

I got it primarily for the bike so I am running it this winter in the car to get familiar with it. In the car they are not really saves since I seldom go over the limit. On the bike though.....
