would a black leather bra absorb laser (even if painted darker black or with Veil)

Although not common today, back in the 90s black leather car bras were very popular - they were designed to perfectly fit over the entire front of a vehicle with the exception of the lights. I read that Veil makes a laser absorbing paint with the intent to slow down the reflection of a laser gun and give you a chance to slow down when you hear your radar detector go off.

My question is whether a black leather bra would do the same? What if I were to paint it even blacker (triple paint it) - I assume a matte finish is what I'd want? Then the only object available would be my headlights which I would cover with Veil paint (or my own homemade version). Would the windshield be something the cops try to hit to get a reading? What are your thoughts, other than the visual? I live in Calgary where we have no front licence plate, so I'd be fully covered. I have a Hummer H2, 90 vette, and 06 LR3 - I don't mind putting on a bra if I knew it would offer 99% protection.

Dude just get some parking sensors...
Any laser gun made this century would not noticeably be affected by the reflectivity of a material, and veil is one of the biggest memes around here because of how much of a lie it is. It’s also going to look terrible and hurt your headlight performance. You might also not know that they shoot laser from behind so you won’t even see the cop pointing at your rear license plate. That being said the anti laser plate covers are also a scam.

A good parking sensor setup will give you the 99% protection you want.

standby for other locals that might be able to offer a laser meetup or test.

In short, they use to work better. 99% protection is never going to happen even on the oldest of guns against the smallest of targets. An achievable goal in the past was scatter to 600ft or more, where a normal lock on was 1000ft+.

against older guns it might help... against modern, not really: https://www.rdforum.org/index.php?threads/42919/ they tried coating all solid front areas including the bumper in veil... only knocked off a couple hundred feet of readable range against modern guns still getting reading out past 1000 feet... (and thats on a sports car with minimal front area... put that n a car with more front surface area and it will be getting readings even father out. it might occasionally help if the officer takes a really long shot, but it's not reliable or consistent as shots under 1000 feet are very common, more so than ones that are super long.. also veil looks pretty bad when painted on, it's very obvious and it has to be reapplied pretty often to maintain what little benefit it offers. Against older lidar guns it worked pretty well, against anything newer the optics have improved so much that it just doesnt help enough... Todays guns can get a reading a couple thousand feet out against a flat black grill on a car, a black bra isn't going to do much against new stuff.

Mmmm, Black leather bra ! :quagmire:

Not really. As mentioned in your other posts, modern guns can get a reading on nearly anything.
You can ask the question 50 different ways and your answer will still be the same.
You need to pay to play. There are no shortcuts.

Eat ramen, drink cheaper beer, and before you know it you will have enough to get a good system together.

Modern guns can detect the speed of a pedestrian walking, reflected off of clothes. And many encounters now are at close range.
