Hello All,

I'll be traveling and taking my RD to use in a rental car. The thought crossed my mind that X-Ray's could possibly be bad for a RD and its sensors? I searched the "In-ter-net" but, couldn't find any info on this topic relating to RD's.

I assume it's like any other electronic device that is safe for X-Ray? If not, please advise.

Thanks! :)

It should not be a problem at all.

Thanks everyone!

I obviously didn't do a good enough search on this topic. I only searched for x-ray. Thanks for the links to the other threads!

No problem. I initially did a Google search as site:rdforum.org xray. When that didn't give any good results, I changed my Google query to: site:rdforum.org luggage

That was when all those good results showed up for me :)

The Google Foo is strong in this one.

Been so long since I bought an RD, do any of the manufacture tell you on the box or in the literature that Airports are no worry? Those of us in the electronics industry already know this, but I am sure it is on other people's minds as RDs are not a small investment.

EDIT: Upon additional thought, Valentine does sell a travel case which would imply their units are Travel/Airport Safe.

Nothing for the R7 in documentation. Only thing close would be this:

"FCC COMPLIANCE This device complies with Part 15 of the FCC rules. Operation is subjected to the following two conditions: (1) this device may not cause harmful interference, and (2) this device must accept any interference received, including interference that may cause undesired operation. "

Mine have been on many a trip with no issues. I can't stand travel without CM's I bring RD, Dashcam, and often laser protection systems as well :)

Exactly... I don't do the lidar, but RD and phone mount at a minimum. Wife thought I was nuts when I got in the rental at Reagan and immediately started installing CMs. However, after seeing all the tactics used she was quickly converted.
