Hello there,

Thank you to all who respond in advance. I am looking to either purchase the Uniden R7 or the Max 360. Money is not really a issue and they are both similar in price anyway atm, If all the Max 360C really does is just add Wifi than I am not really interested in paying an extra $100 just for that. Thoughts would be great! Will be going on my windshield btw, I also run Waze with my Android.

I'll always go for the most range everytime, so I'd go with the R7! In this case however it's even easier to pick the R7 because of the going to sleep issues the max 360 is having. My old RX65 used to go to sleep for no reason and with no warning and it sucks when that happens! All of the sudden you realize that it's been kinda quiet for a while so you start looking for some door openers or something and sure enough, you find out it is asleep after all! In my case I could turn it off and let it reboot and it would come back to life, but for how long?

If in your shoes, buy both, return one (or keep both) before 30 days is up.

I own both. Daily use, the 360c gets the nod. R7 is great too. But, is a specialists role. I travel where silence and great range beats amazing range and BSM noise that won’t shut up. Only on hard core rural sparse traffic highways will the R7 get 100% nod. Nothing better with that for 15+ psl.

in end, I have no sleeping issues with Max series. Most out there in non RDF land do not also. Otherwise, they would not sell any.

if you are serious, you need tools for each situation. That is why I have both.

Plus, the R7 sticky mount is such a oriental copy of the Escort (except the amazing mag mount on the 360c), I run Escort M1 dash cam on the R7 mounts like the Max. Single wiring, easy to use, mount, and move.

I am new to this forum and RD. Just bought MAX360 yesterday and installed with hardwire from Escort. I do have thoughts of getting R7 as second copy. I wonder how do you swap Max360 and R7 with Escort Hardwire. Thanks for your guidance.

I have both. MAX360 in the work SUV, and R7 in my personal sedan. Both false to some BSM, with the R7 slightly more, due to extra sensitivity, but the 360 has a instant (almost full) alert when it falses. The R7 ramps up and down much better. I can tell it's BSM better on the R7...plus I can change the alert tone on the R7 to something less annoying (Alert Tone 5).

Given the conditions I drive in, I wouldn't trust the 360 for anything "too crazy", and would stay within tolerance if visibility was limited. The R7 has range and sensitivity I trust. Just this morning I was taunting the State Vultures in one of the usual "harassment zones", and sure enough I got an early warning from a shot on a car way out in front of me before he targeted my car. Pinned his @$$ on Waze. Good for nutin bastid! This was a wooded, hilly and curvy highway. I'm not sure the 360 would have given me that early warning. The R7 does.

Go with the R7. Range matters!

For range it'll be the R7 based on reviews.

For a smart overall idiot proof out the box radar detector. The 360 series if you can get one without that works for you.

The range of my 360 Max seems about the same as my old school 9500ix. Only the 360 is smarter with arrows.

Both the r7 and 360 series have there own issues.

Good luck with your final decision.

Its too bad they cant figure out the sleep issues, -and it doesnt happen to all units, but they are very well built, with lots of features and good BSM filtering, but hard to trust them...
Good hardware.

Not so perfect software

Sucks

Don't get me wrong. like my MAX360 a lot. It has saved me every day on open highway without a lot of trees and hills. But some roads need all you can get. But I think the 360 was better on rejecting BSM a couple of firmware versions ago. The lockup issue firmware updates broke something on BSM rejection, and they still have a problem with lockups and sleeping. I have had both on the latest firmware, but not that often. It always has something to do with K Band though.

The power cord on the Escort works fine with R7. You lose the cigar plug mute button when using the R7. The Uniden power cords should also work. However, i find the R3/7 cigar plugs cannot support the current of the 360(c) and M1 dash cam together. I run the M1 dash cam from Escort on all 360 platforms I own, AND the R7 mount. Works great.
