Just drove across the US, South Texas to Detroit. Virtually every speed trap had been reported on Google Maps. Only problem was that the voice alert to the traps was 30 seconds late. Made me worry what the retaliation to this will be. Although maybe it will the heat off of radar and laser detectors and thus slow down the radar laser arms race. If everyone knows where the traps are anyway, why would they spend money on the latest and greatest guns? If google decided to go this far I dont see them backing down and remove the feature. If I remember correctly the courts ruled in a CB radio case that information sharing like this is protected under the first amendment.

I did use google maps and the first time the app updated to the new update, the button didn't exist and I had looked all over the net and couldn't find any answers why it wasn't showing up for me. The way I got it to show up was to uninstall and reinstall maps.

What is the consensus on the sharing of Waze and maps? Do you guys think they are sharing between each other and do you think that there are more reports on google maps?

This fairly recent article appears to answer the question about whether Maps and Waze share data. Sounds like it's, "No".

This is consistent with what I've been seeing while running them side by side the last couple of months. Very few matching reports, with Waze generally showing more. The number of LEO reports seems like it's increasing daily on Maps, though.

I have a question regarding the Maps reporting.
Here in BC Canada I had the ability to report a speed trap on Maps a while ago, right after the feature was added.
Now it has been removed and only a Speed Camera or traffic incident can be reported.Police, speed traps removed.
Waze is still the same.
Was there an announcement on the removal of this feature?
Thanks

There was some whining in Canada from police and municipalities about Google doing this.
Some sort of government pressure or regulation forcing Google to remove to prevent hurt feelings?

It's been this way since I got the new phone (Pixel 4 XL) 2 weeks ago.
Didn't use it on the old phone (S8) for a while, but it was there in November.

Our other 2 phones are the same, maybe a regional problem.

I'm pissed off.
I tried Maps report speed camera and I get one report before message pops up and states I'm out of reporting opportunities.
Then the tab is grayed out and I can't report anything.
This happens reporting road construction delays as well.
One report and done for 1/2 hour or more.
WTF?

I've encountered the same thing. Not sure why they limit reports, especially speed traps, but it's a weakness for sure.

Until they resolve this flaw, I'll keep running Waze and Maps in tandem, reporting on both.

I have never seen anything on Maps. I see the option when I’m navigating to report but that is no help if I cannot see what has already been reported. I have Waze open for the reports but dont like to use it to navigate so I am using split screen to use two maps apps at once just to get somewhere. Most of the time my other map is Apple Maps since I am an iOS user and like it. I like how it integrates with my calendar.

I think the reporting timer has its benefits as well. There is speculation here LEOs clear their spot off the map by reporting it away. This would help that some.
