"In 1.1 miles take exit 468A........" Thank you SueSue (GPS's name) for confirming my location.

Traveling back from work, between Tarboro and Rocky Mount, NC tonight I was running HR and of course the DFR7 was on, HR showed that a cop had been reported and at 3 miles the DFR7 and HR started almost the same time. the beeping you hear is Highway Radar, distance set to 3 miles in the front, 1 mile behind and 1/4 mile to the side. 33.8 Ghz @Kennyc56 can verify this IS my truck, my DFR7 and set up. He saw it. Anyone else that was testing with us this past weekend can verify that Yes, it is my truck and my voice. I've heard multiple times here on this forum that Uniden DFR7's are weak on 33.8. Have posted many vid's going back to when i lived in Arkansas with 4 mile detections. Here is a by gawd, roadsign assisted and GPS announcing distance detection. 3 miles... 3 FRIGGIN MILES on what the DFR7 is supposed to suck at, Oh well, as i took exit 466 there he was, about 1/4 mile up the road with the blue lights on...

3 miles isn't enough warning? with a lowly DFR7?

Nice detection! My return to RD's was with the DFR7 and I have been nothing but happy. Off axis detection really has been better than expected. BestRadarDetectors just sold me a damaged box R3 to deal with a bunch of new K band in the area. Can't wait to test them back to back!

I can't complain I was at a nearly 6 mile 34.7 alert on my DFR 7 the other day, I mean super optimal conditions so i wasn't too surprising. I need to do a max range test one of these days and see what I can sniff with it. I already know the R1 can max out the 8 mile course I have...

Now you'll probably start seeing 33.8 next week! 🤣 Kinda like when I told Obwank there was no K band around here... now I'm surrounded by it!

You're kinda assuming he was the source and not some other LEO perhaps travelling behind you doing I/O yeah? That's some very challenging terrain so I'm a bit doubtful.

I was thinking something similar. That detection would be impressive for an R series, much less a DFR.

The rampup is stronger at 1:23 than it is at 2:14 when he would theoretically be nearly a mile closer to the officer. I'm not totally sure that it was picking up the LEO marked on Waze that HR was alerting to.

I have seg 2 on, so I'm good to go with all of my detectors. I've still not seen ANY sign of 33.8 in eastern NC ever! I've seen it close to the Tenn./ NC border a lot however.

Same group of cops i listen to on the scanner that set up speed traps just up the road from exit 466. They will run that area for a bit then move on down a couple exits and set up. One cop shoots radar and calls out the vehicles, a cpl others run them down. I have listened to them doing this and at times have heard the doppler tones over the air as the cop shooting is calling out vehicle description. It's a weekly thing. Also, if you doubt it I have posted other vids as i stated from when I lived back in arkansas with 4 mile detections on 33.8, maybe I got a DFR7 thats hot on 33.8.. I dunno. it's hell on wheels against 34.7 too but we knew that. Next time the group gets together i hope someone brings a 33.8 so we can check it out.

I will take you up on that offer! Thank you very much! I want to know as bad as you do! this is how we find out things for the benefit of all. I am honored you would make the offer, truly i am.. Next time @VariableWave ,@Kennyc56 ,@The Pope ,@Chris KH2PM plan a meet, we will have to do some radar shooting, last time was mostly LIDAR and it was fun as hell.

It is possible. According to Google Earth, the LEO was about 80' higher in elevation than the spot where the alert started. Depending on the circumstances, that can remove some terrain limitations.

Good catch.. I never took into consideration change in elevation as i was traveling, but yes that would possibly explain the in and out signal. I think most times we forget that and focus more on lateral.

@LinuxD indeed the DFR7 will surprise with it's performance. Had a 3.5 mile plus detection 33.8 Ka hit myself as described in this thread:
This is a great performing detector and won't break the bank. Definitely on the recommended list IHMO.

Have been running the DFR7 for years and before that the LRD950, they have not disappointed me for my driving style.

That's the one gun that we don't have yet! I agree our last test was a blast!
