I thought I’d share a nugget I learned...

I have both the R3 and R7 - and I knew that the camera databases were different because they just installed new cameras in June locally. My R3 had the 7/4/19 dB while the R7 had the 4/2/19 dB. And the R3 warned of the cameras but the R7 never warned the new speed cameras!

So anyways, the problem is - for the R7, they bundled the FW and the dB updates into ONE file alone. So I had the latest FW 124.124.111 which was great, but my speed camera dB for that file were dated 4/2/19. But for the R3, there were still TWO files, one for the FW and one for the speed camera dB’s but it was dated 7/4/19.

It didn’t state it in the R7 downloads specifically, but what I did was still download the R3 camera dB file and load that into my R7. The FW still remains 124.124.111 but the dB is now 7/4/19. That’s exactly what I wanted. So it looks like the individual dB (not FW) for 7/4 can be used on the R1, R3, and R7. Kind of self defeats the purpose of the “combined one file” of both FW and dB, if the dB is not the latest and greatest.

So anyways - just thought I’d share that nugget for those of you who still had the 4/2 dB on their R7.

thanks again @Bossdad71 Mike for all the customer service and help.

I asked about this a while ago, and Uniden responded that they do not recommend doing this. When I asked why, all I heard were crickets . . .

Keep in mind that @Mithheru does DB updating and he will make changes to old and new cameras if you give him the coordinate information. See attached. Also, you will see my query on post 19 and Uniden's response

The latest R7 update was 6/12/19 and it came with 2 things to do. Download the firmware and has a separate data base to download. The R7's latest update is NOT bundled into one file as you stated.

Yes, it doesn't matter to me whether a firmware / database is packaged together or not. I can separate them. All detectors can also update the separate database files. I have code that can build and verify the contents with 100% understanding of all the binary and data. There is no issue uploading latest database only updates onto older detectors. The data is fully compatible.

My latest builds also are as up to date as they can be, the more information I have the better I can build, so its over to Uniden and you guys to send me that information!

thank you. Yes I read that one, but it didn’t really talk about the database. So, where can I get the 6/12 database (not FW)? I already have the 124.124 update but I want the latest database?
