I've never seen a POP alert on my R7 or any of my Escorts until today. If memory is not failing me I think it was 33.7MHz signal. Never saw what the source could have been. Familiar road US 101 that I commute on everyday between Ventura and Santa Barbara. Was it real?

33.7 is usually a false from another RD, cobra or such. chances are it was a weak very transient signal that was short enough that it triggered a POP alert. I got occasional POP falses on my RD's, and turned it of cause it was obnoxious.

Lots of satellite dishes will throw a 33.7 false--I pass by this house every morning and I get an alert with my R3

Ka POP is always going to be in 33.8. I run Ka POP on because 33.8 rules in this neck of the woods (or cornfield as the case may be). Two of the three times it has alerted was to leaky RDs. The 3rd time it alerted to a BSM.

It could be real, but most likely not. All radar gun manuals state that tickets should NOT be issued when a speed is clocked with POP. If it gets obnoxious, you might as well turn it off. Could be a satellite dish or leaky Cobra.

AFAIK, there is no 33.8 in CA. Most there disable segment 2.

I believe when @Vortex tested POP on the R3 he found that with POP on, all 33.8 signals initially show up as POP but if it is sufficiently long it will then show up as a regular 33.8 alert. I would expect the R7 to exhibit the same behavior.

As I ride this route everyday, I doubt that it was a stationary source like a sat dish, unless it is newly installed. This section of freeway is pretty undeveloped, so maybe a leaky detector of some sort.
