That second setup looks much better for position, that should serve you well in new england. I would expect basically JTG results against all but DE. The most recent update really solidified Stalker XLR's and I wasn't finding PT's to be an issue maybe an occasional one sub 100 feet. with DE I would expect some PT's if you drill for them under 400 feet. No longer do you have to worry about front laser when you drive the highways :)

My next step was to take a dremel to the grille and make it a little more flat. You're right that a junkyard grille is probably a good move. My only worry about one slat lower is how far the bumper extends out below the grille. There's a solid 3-4" of bumper below the grille, and I don't want any reflections off of that.

I placed mine lower and very close to the bumper, which also extends few inches out. So I have the same concern as you, and mentioned that in my thread. Hopefully other people would chime in and share some wisdom if that really is something to worry about...
