Its USB C, it's the symbol for the technology.

I think they're going to rely on USB rather than traditional cable to the RD industry, maybe for power and data transfer. I'd guess both?

Based on their countdown, we're three weeks out from the big announcement, or some announcement. I can't wait and don't think this group will disappoint us!
funny you say that. I do get lots of customers asking for a detector with a USB cord since most cars dont have cigarette lighter plugs

Might not be the thread for you my friend... change is hard for some.
* * *
So I just want to leave this for perspective because I came back into this thread and your post along with another just scream "I don't handle new things well".. even if you don't feel like that which quite frankly.... whatever you say lol.
* * *

I hope we move away from being like the above, and I honestly think Radenso's release is going to help with that.
I just want to say I thoroughly enjoy this thread and everyone's speculation. There is another thread "Would you pay 1 k plus for a Radenso that was completely immune to BSM" and I believe you will find my response there was yes I would.

Sorry to have offended you in any way, as that was certainly not my intent. I did just get yet another "save" from my rj11 cord's locking mechanism which prevented the RD from hitting my dash, console and then floor after the suction cup failed, as it dangled there from its high direct wire cord mount. I was just trying to point out some practical aspects that I hope might be addressed if any changes were to be made in that regard. And, I do not currently own a V1.

WOW. . . I did not see that one coming.

The big reveal is actually an optional add on - a $99 base-jumping style parachute for your detector that deploys when accelerometers sense the suction cup failed! The Radenso SafeSchute(tm) ensures your detector only breaks 50% of the time when the suction cup fails!

I’m all for a transition away from RJ11 if the cables present a limitation; however I do not like the current power cable on Pro M.

Someone spoke above concerning modularity. That’s a huge benefit to using USB C. The iPads use it, androids use it, and I expect the next iteration of iPhone will use it.

huh, I was expecting a space-age attachment device that totally revolutionized windshield mounting. :)

It already does
I like the USBC connection but please be careful with socket quality, better yet, provide some secondary retention to keep the USB firmly connected. The last 2 phones I've had have gotten loose and I have to bite the connectors on the cables constantly to crush them a bit so they stay in the phones.

Sometimes I put my phone on the charger and wake up in the morning with no charging having been completed because it lost its connection to the USBC.

Well you didn't insult me so I'm not offended. I guess think of it this way if you're truly surprised by my post. If you were leading a project team and you began the discussion of USB-C without any detail... would you be enthusiastic if one of your team members immediately started listing why they don't like USB-C? Probably not because that person is already closed off.

That's my perspective and where I was coming from. I've given up on Escort, Uniden has shifted how they do things, and VR isn't selling a RD at the moment. Not to mention some of the forums around here aren't that fun anymore because of these things, people getting restless, and people just getting bored of the same old same old.

I think you brought up really good points, just seemed like a major buzz kill given the fact we have zero confirmed info on the matter. If I was overly critical I do apologize. I think my previous interactions were having someone argue about what's best for a threat environment they don't drive in while I do, and seeing some of the conversations in the VR sub. Just bizarre stuff that wore on my patience.

To circle back though, I'm excited for this release. I think you bring up some good topics for discussion and I hope Radenso thought about these points if they are using USB C.

I'm banking on Radenso's big advancement being true BSM rejection.
If it's true what is frequently said here [that we RDF'ers are just a small fraction of the RD purchasing base] then I can't think of anything more important to the 'general RD using public' than stopping these MF BSM falses.

Does the general RD user really care (or even know about) perfect arrow display, perfect ramp up, MRCD detection, 25% improvement in range, open sourcing ability, off axis detection, etc.

If radenso really wants to hit big time sales numbers, then hopefully they dumb down their mass advertising to showcase a new feature called something like 'junk K fighter'. Just kidding with the name of course, but the point is that even the general RD using public is fed up with these GD BSM false alerts

Ha, I think "GD BSM filter" would be an appropriate name at this point!

I believe a USB C connection will be one of the ways to connect a compact RD antenna device to a hardwire like kit, which then goes to a hidden processor box with all sorts of connection / processing / filtering possibilities.
Sort of a hybrid windshield / custom install system.
This would be good for stealth look and maximum computing power by utilizing available devices.
Portability between vehicles might suffer as it probably won't be completely stand alone, unless the receiver head has a processor and memory that retains the functions when disconnected from auxiliary processing sources.
Integration with factory car displays is high probability...

I like this idea, too.

One of the things that has not changed, ever, is a RD has to hang from the windshield or the rear view mirror.

If you do not like that, you get to spend thousands instead of hundreds.

There's a big market segment between hundreds and thousands. :hmm:
