And here we are just about in November and still no updates from Uniden... Radenso is starting to look better and better.

I wonder if lawsuit is holding updates back? Providing law suit is still on going?

I'm not an economics major, but in a pure profit sense, pushing firmware updates does not make companies money. Marketing new RDs with improved performance does. That's probably why Escort has been slow with firmware updates for their models and maybe why Uniden is too. The majority of RD users will never go on this forum and are less likely to even actively search for firmware update once they purchase a unit. Having a handful of angry RD enthusiasts might be a risk Uniden is willing to take to make more profit by spitting out another new and improved R7 maybe called the R9 that has auto-lockouts, better BSM and actual spectre immunity and charging 600 bucks for it.
This is the exact thinking that caused escort to lose market share and basically opened the door for Uniden to take over. If Uniden makes the same mistake and starts the "next new thing" game it will open the door for Radenso

The auto learn Patent was set to expire this year but due to pending lawsuits with Uniden & Radenso it looks like they got an extension on the expiration. There is a lot going on and its not as simple as just releasing stuff because customers want it.
To my knowledge you can’t get a patent extension like that. Once it reaches its expiration date, that’s it. I handle all the IP for the business unit of my company, so I have some experience in this area.

It wouldn't be extended but they wouldn't implement auto learn until after the lawsuit and even then only if Escort lost. In the end you have the same delay.

R7 is not fine. Uniden R7 claims mrcd works and it does not work. As of right now that is false advertising. I'm totally pissed off this isn't working and it shouldn't take 6 months to solve this issue. It should have been solved when they sold it!
Sounds like you need to sell your unit and go with a Radenso. If MRCD is your prime threat, you should have bought a unit that makes that a priority.

Not sure why the lawsuit would continue if the patent has expired? In that case there would be no grounds for infringement. They might sue for past damages, but that would only be valid if Uniden has already sold units with auto locking, which as far as we know they have not. Even if that were the case it would not affect what Uniden or any other competitor does moving forward, as the IP converts to public domain information that anyone can freely use.

Isn't the lawsuit about GPS? Of course, that's what the lockouts use.

Yeah. We just got a new beta today and it’s got some cool stuff. I’m glad to see the ball rolling once again.

I am trying to get permission to expand beta testing to anyone that wants to participate in Beta testing. A lot of complaints have been being worked on but no one see's what is going on until firmware is released making people feel that nothing is actually going on. I think getting more people involved with testing can offer more transparency and will cut back on a lot of the unnecessary negativity.

Count me in. And yes, NDA will be honored. I want these guys to get the best they can out of the R7 platform.

I'll bet if you were to tell everyone what those great things are.....that would make many people happy right now.
It's just a radar detector firmware update...not nuclear launch codes. :)

I am out but here are a few important improvements I can think of off hand...

MRCD Performance Improvements
Updated K Filter for improved filtering
False Laser Alerts reduced with new Gun Identifications
Adjustable Sensitity Adjustments for Rear Radar Antenna
Several Bug Fixes, etc.

There is alot being worked on. I personally feel more testers will help make a better release.

Great news! I can’t wait to see how well the MRCD improvements and new filters work. I’d love those on my R3 too if possible. 😉

Also, I think with more testers there needs to be more testing as well to reduce bugs because at this point as more bugs will just make a bad case for why it took this long.

Is there a fix for the mute memory/lockouts defect on either the R1, R3, or R7?
