pretty dismissive to make a claim that any of us that are not happy are being “paid” to make complaints, although it makes it easier for anyone who disagrees with us since you can just dismiss our complaints without having to address them.

as far as updates, for the R7 they have issued two. The first was just after the R7 was released. The only issue they really addressed was the rear horn sensitivity, which I think we can acknowledge did not fix the issue. Then a couple months later they issued another one. The issues of substance addressed in that one was the volume problem, the arrow problem (which again wasn’t really fixed) and a bug fix with the k block. To me those are not the kind of changes that were being called for nor what I expected of them.

you read this forum pretty thoroughly. I know that because you make a lot of comments in a lot of threads. I’m sure that you have read the many posts that pretty clearly and specifically described poor customer service on the part of Uniden. I think it is very disingenuous for you to question that post about examples of poor customer service.

we all know that the new representative on this forum from Uniden has other duties besides responding to this forum. No one has offered the idea that he or she needs to spend every waking moment on this forum. But.........if you have not noticed his or her absence, especially compared to what we saw from the prior representative, then you aren’t paying attention.
awww ok, sorry i gave my opinion, didnt realize it was only certain people were allowed to share, my bad. sorry to bother you with my opinion, carry on sir. i think maybe you didnt read my whole comments, or, you didnt read the whole comments of the person who i was addressing. or, maybe writing is a horrible way to communicate because neither one of us can see or feel what a persons emotions are. either way, take care

another dismissive answer. Why don’t you just respond to the issues rather than running away with your little quips?

What im about to say may not sit well with a lot of people, and this isn't related to any one manufacturer. I have read every post on that ginormous V1 thread and felt somewhat the same, although the perceived issue with V1 is availability and not firmware updates. Most of what I see is people bitching (read:complaining)because these companies are not catering to them. When I say them I mean the individual, not the masses. Updates aren't coming out when they want them, features that appeal to a particular individual and maybe 3 other people aren't being implemented with 90 seconds of them making a post on a public forum. Maybe im wrong but I'd be willing to bet that if everyone on Rdforum.org never bought another radar detector, these companies would still exist and thrive. The enthusiasts on this forum make up a very small percentage (in my opinion) of the annuals sales of detectors from any and all manufacturers. Most people buy a detector, throw it in their car and drop the hammer.....because they are now immune from the police. BSM complaints are by far the worst and arguably easily dismissed by myself and probably a few others. You cannot block all BSM and at the same time expect never to miss a valid threat. Period. If you can't deal with the junk K alerts, turn off the band or drive the speed limit without a detector. I speed. Religiously......I live in an area where K bands exists and where numerous falses happen on a regular basis. You learn your areas, interpret your detections and keep it moving. In unknown areas I want to be alerted to anything in the drift ridden K Band.....Real or false, you should want to know if you choose to exceed the PSL. If it annoys you when a false alert comes in and causes you to slow down when you really dont want to, then you shouldn't be speeding. When I speed (read:when I drive), its nice to know something may be near by that might ruin my fun, but at the same time Ive consciously made the decision to speed or made the decision not to pay attention to my speed while driving, so whatever happens....happens. Are there known issues with almost every single detector on the market? If you answered that question with a no, we have different views on reality. Some of them can be rectified easily, but will that fix possibly create another issue? Is it possible that fix will work as expected? I would argue that outside of a very large handful of people, the vast majority of users don't even know a "problem" or "issue" even exists. Uniden, Valentine, Radenso and the maker of the "Batman" detector will (should) rectify the issues reported by the masses, those issues that are actual issues experienced by the majority of users......not three people. I was joking about the Batman detector being updated. Im not trying to get anyones hopes up.

When firmware is released it is released. You as a end user will never dictate when that happens. The R7 came out in April? 2-3 firmware updates since its release? Where is the issue at? I think the issue is lack of patience and not lack of support. There is probably a little sense of entitlement mixed in as well.......

I own and V1 and R7 for the record. This forum introduced me to Radenso and I have no actual real life experience their offerings. I learned about the Batman detector in a video by @Vortex and I cannot begin to thank you for the laugh and most importantly your wealth of information.

I don't agree with your position on this. As enthusiast we may be a small minority but we are the people that others who are not that attracted to technical things come to for advice. We are that techie guy that everyone comes to for advice on how to work their cell phone or fix something on their laptop. When we recommend or do not recommend a particular product it carries weight. When someone's riding in my car and asked me what kind of radar detector that is they listen and often down the road by the same one. If I tell them to not think about getting this one, for whatever reason, guess what they will do.

This is the very same pattern that escort followed several years ago and look where they are now. They are still selling products but have nowhere near the customer base or enthusiasm as they once did. They accomplished that by shitting on their loyal customers because they complained about what direction they were going in. The 1st thing to go for them was their customer support. That was followed by their rep on their forum giving false promises and literally lying to people. Then they just started blocking people from their forum that said anything bad about the detector or their service

Someone else mentioned this and I noticed it as well. When your customers are telling you something has changed you don't respond to them by saying you are wrong nothing has changed. They wouldn't be telling you that if they didn't perceive it so that's a clue for you, as a company, to look at your processes and figure out what's going on. Saying nothing has changed is basically telling your customers you are imagining it and you're wrong.

I hope uniden continues to produce a market leading product that performs better than all the others for a reasonable price. I hope the production of the R1 and R3 and finally the R7 Was not in all hands push to generate excitement in the brand and now they've put it on cruise control so the money can roll in. You can get away with that with the general market but not with the enthusiast. If these radar detectors companies have learned anything in the last 30 years it's the core of your sales is going to be driven by the enthusiast's that not only purchase your product but recommend your products by word-of-mouth.
BAM!! and Touche', how true!!!

Funny how you mention this because I have NOT logged on their forum for a full year now. Nothing has changed over there!!

Ask (ER) them when we're getting a new update to the M3 unit(s) or a fix for the Max360 and C. Seems like they haven't done anything for nearly three years now.

Still here, checking in and seeing who the rabble-rousers are. I know you are one :)

Seriously, if you've got some in at ER, ask them where's the beef and the new products. They are seriously lagging behind lately. Lately as in the past three years now.

It's always funny to watch how people hyperventilate because they didn't get a weekly update. When you read through many complaints its easy to start seeing the pattern of people who are just chronic complainer's. legitimate complaints tend to be a little more thought out and typically seek solutions before they start throwing one of the most enthusiast focused RD companies to come around in a long time under the bus. Add to that the fact that they produced several of the highest performing windshield mount RD's available and I think we can all take a breath and cut them some slack.
Well said, I had to laugh when I saw this thread.

Yep, still running a 12 year old Stir-O and a 10 year old M3 Redline. Sure, minus K band, but Ka is nearly all I see.

Radar waves and propagation haven't changed forever, just our ability to detect it. However, what the po-po uses is still based on fundamental principles and the biggest change was analog to digital about 25 years ago. Still, an old Escort from the 80s will do just fine on Ka band and even K band. My S7 on USA Mode, nearly 20 years old does just fine on all Ka bands.
Actually there was no KA band in the 1980's detectors were only X and K.

Can't edit my post. I guess KA was created in 1983. All my 80's detectors were X and K. Our city did not get KA until late 90's

Oh common, you're not being fair. They sued two more companies and had four new CEOs and CTOs! Plus they release a dash cam and some cobras. Lots of stuff happening over there.
