Will we see another update to the R7 or is the game over

Reducing the lockout frequency range from a total of 60 MHz (I thought it was 70MHz) to a total of 20 MHz is a really beneficial adjustment IMO. It does mean that more lockout memory spots will be used in some cases though.

Still, this should be a little safer for the driver.
That’s the downside, but I think it’ll be beneficial.

Just an FYI as I was promised we received next Beta firmware for R7 and we will begin testing this weekend. We heard everyone's complaints about K Mute Memory range being too wide and it was adjusted from +/- 30mhz to +/- 10mhz. Will keep everyone updated.
Although I don't use the lockout feature, it's good to know Uniden is narrowing the frequencies. Love it when a manufacturer listens to their consumers.

How do we get a copy to test?

He means the lockout frequency range. So if you lockout a frequency at 24.100 it will now ignore 24.090-24.110 instead of 24.070-24.130 at that location.
Mute Memory Function
Lockouts, he means.
Thank you for the clarifications of what BRD meant.

Unrelated, I’ve always been curious who is on the beta test team. I look forward to their input on the forum.

As I’ve mentioned before, I am very satisfied with my R7 as is. I look forward to all updates though.

Maybe I am missing something... I see many people complaining that Uniden is taking to long to send out a Firmware Update. Here is my take on this issue. The R7 is doing very well with the current 124 version. Does Uniden need to keep it's word about the Auto Learn/Auto Mute? --->Yes<---. Did Uniden need to make the R7 a LOT more stealthy? Yes. But other then that it is running very well for me. I get a few very short false hits on a random new car, but it is nothing to cry over. I am sure that Uniden is working on filtering a bit better. Overall, I see a lot of nitpicking. I'd rather have a polished update, then a fast update. I still have my FOX XK RD from 1980. Guess how many updates it received in 40 years? ;)

They’re more than likely under a NDA which is the industry norm. Pretty much any beta program anywhere.
We don’t know who’s involved.

Uniden is not looking to expand their testing group at this time. Once bugs are identified and fixed it will get released to everyone.

I agree that Uniden is doing a decent job with updates... Is there room for improvement sure... Every company can improve but the R7 is a far cry from being done which is what this thread was started about.

The R7 "It will be updated."
Yea, that is what rumors say, some new FW just about to hit beta users? Or already being used. Not sure. Anyway, I will go with two weeks lingo because it will take that long or more.

The improvements that BRD said are coming are great. Honestly, I’m pretty satisfied with how my R7 performs as is. Sure, there are still some BSM falses but what detector doesn’t have them ? (Theia doesn’t count) I’m still looking forward to the new update and improvements.
I have K band on my R7 set to 70% and it falses noticeably more to BSM than my Radenso Pro M and Escort Redline EX did (both returned). That is why Theia, to me at least, is a compelling option.
Hopefully the next R7 update will improve BSM falsing.

That's what I like about competition from manufacturers. Consumers win. But honestly, I'm very satisfied with my R7 using QR for now and maybe the future. I just don't think there is a better way of finding a solution for BSM because of dealing with different BSM frequencies and manufacturers. I believe that if the government puts a standard on all vehicles with BSM, then radar detector manufacturers can concentrate, focus more on a specific range of frequencies that they want to address.

Eventually BSM systems will migrate to 76-77GHz, but we will still have all the legacy Hondas, Acuras, Buicks, Mazdas, etc. to deal with. Theia will be a game changer, and it will be interesting to see how (if) the competition responds.
