Will we see another update to the R7 or is the game over

One thing I would also like to see added on the R7 is a quick voice announcement when the arrows switch from one position to another. That would help me to keep my eyes out for the threat, and help to know when to "get back on it".

Phil
That’s actually a great idea. Hopefully Uniden pays attention to our suggestions.

or a quick tone since the voice switch may take too long especially if its going from rear to forward and its spazzing out switching between the two, we may miss the ramp up.

The issue is that it might get really noisy for certain situations where the arrows aren't stable during transition.

I have thought about requesting the function in JBV1. He's already providing a front/rear bias in 256 increments.

Perhaps the alert could be triggered only once, or only when there's a smooth transition from front to side and it doesn't linger too much to the side and doesn't go back to the front again, etc.

I've got a great log of a dual Ka source where the logs of my front and rear horns show slightly different encounters with this one LEO that chased down a car next to me after I passed.

Weighted, maybe? Perhaps "Side" would be a bit too much, but a very quick Front/Rear might help...especially at night in the dark. :)

I'm not suggesting a side alert, just that the side values might make the eventual alert more reliable.

My R7 voice announced front to rear signal changes during several encounters.
Probably though due to an unstable signal dropping momentarily and/or a second frequency popping into the picture.
A straight up solid signal that I pass by usually doesn't announce the change unless I have a long reception time and signal drops temporarily as I get near end of reception range.

Example: poor crazy one but an example nonetheless.

I agree with your assessment. I get the same announcement behavior with weaker signals.

My video example is of a crazy strong construction speed sign that starts alerting a mile away around a corner through dense forest.
I believe my rear alert is bouncing signal coming through my cab and bouncing back off my large metal tool boxes in the box I was hauling.
No other reason I can deduce.

I don't think that's gonna happen. Many times the direction gets a little confused during the transition and alternate from front to side to rear. I would rather not see processor time taking up trying to continuously announce the changes.

I don't see my arrows get confused at all. Transition is usually smooth and "direct". No problem here.

My point is what difference does it make when the threat is that close. If you're in transition the threat is real so either way you need to act accordingly. If you need a voice announcement to tell you each time the reflected signal is bouncing off off this car or the next you're missing what the initial signal is trying to tell you...slow down. I don't want to hear nor see processor time absorbed by something that is already known....the threat is real.

Philbert, how long have you been driving with arrows?
I've had them 19 years or so.

I think you and I agree that there might be room in the grand scheme of things for some users to get an optional one time tone (or something) near the transition point as an extra bit of data. :)

Sometimes too much talking gets on the nerves.
Took awhile but Garmin finally got rid of "Recalculating" and other unnecessary instructions.
Keep it simple made for a much better user experience.
My Google maps won't shut up.
When you are at the turn a simple "turn left" will do instead of repeating over and over "highway blah blah blah, sign for blah blah blah..."
I am at the radar threat, I agree you don't need a voice to alert you to look beside you, policeman within 50 feet, ooops, now behind you....

I wish I had your serial number. Mine at times will make the early 360s seem smooth and direct by comparison. Overall, like the R7. Nothing like it yet out in the fringes of sparse traffic, sniffing out those pesky I/O.

I recently had arrow confusion yesterday when I was at a stop light and the cop was somewhere close and the signal was bouncing 360 degrees. It was in the 3-4 bar range and it was a bouncing Betty. However, this almost never happens.

So according to @SquirrelMaster who is an insider for Uniden, it will be released in 2 weeks. I can't wait!
HA, anything with the moniker "2 weeks" should be taken with a HUGE grain of sale... One need only check the V1 forum to see why.
