Will we see another update to the R7 or is the game over

I’m seeing members post numerous well thought out upgrades and areas of improvement on the R7

I’m hearing turnover and other issues such as poor customer service at Uniden

I’m wondering if they are done spending

Cleaning out talented employees who could fine tune the R7 like escort did with the Max360 was launched

It had problems and they fixed them

But it looks like Uniden has stopped all work on the R7 and just sell it and not service or work to improve it

The radar industry has gone to shit

Uniden won’t work to improve a unit after launch

Valentine can’t get parts

Escort has Maxxed out

Well perhaps Radenso will spend some $ on R and D and own the market in 1 to 2 years

You are hearing both sides. Those of us that are fed up with them and those that remain loyal. Just look at the information I guess and decide for yourself. For me their customer service sucks, but you’ll hear from people that still think they are great. We all process the data differently and that is actually pretty normal and pretty common.

@ALEXTWIN Are you looking for a particular thing in a new update? I mean Uniden can push an update just to push an update with nothing changed lol. I am not siding with anyone, I am just saying sometimes waiting has its benefits. Look at the Radenso M after they figured out the BSM issues that were going on with the SE and I know they added physical parts, but they took their time and didn't rush things. I will say however, that Uniden better be working hard on something because if they come out and release an update with 2 more colors for the UI and add a new dancing robot to the display, then I would be pissed, but until then I reserve my comments. I do wish there was some clarity to Uniden right now though as what they are working on, I think they did make a blanket statement IIRC, but with these sleepless nights, I might have been in another world. I really want to know what they are doing for the new update and that's it lol, I don't want a ETA or anything, I just want to know an actual update, not "we are working to provide you with a better experience" statement (That was made up by me, Uniden did not say that).

Watching the Vortex interviews with Radenso on his tube channel it seems like there is a bit more than just needing $$ but, if some extra $$ would help they could launch a go fund me type page. There is just shy of 20,000 members on RDF and if half of the users donated $20 Radenso would have an extra $200,000 which, I'd imagine that would definitely help whether it's used for development or hiring talented developers/engineers. Personally, I do think Radenso in the next 5-10 years has a very good chance of being the leader of the pack.

For the R7, perhaps Uniden needs to sell a bunch first to get a ROI then put some of that sales $$ into future developments? IDK

"Hearing things" is just that; it's affected by the judgement and experience of the person that went through it. I think the R7 is pretty solid right now and doesn't "need" an update. I think they learned a lot with the R1/3 that they poured into the R7 that it's already got all the updates that were necessary.

The other thing is that the beta testers (of which I am not one) are more tight lipped on what beta versions they are testing. There was too much of an expectation that each update was going to make the R1/3 a magical device that I think Uniden, and the beta testers, consider just how much information they were leaking out.

In my observations, there are roughly 250-300 active members on RDF. :)

Hell, I haven't even updated my R7 the first time yet. Lol. I will but it's hardly broken.

The R7 works as intended, it only needs a few things to round it out a bit like better K filtering and BSM filtering. I think if they updated those two things, they can then just focus on making MRCD better. Who knows, maybe they are working on all 3.

@DChiJEllis is right, hearing is just that and is different speculations and opinions, just look at the new V1 will be updated thread.

The R7 is very good and ya could use some tweaking and there lots of asks and personal wants, but as noted based on past experience, I doubt we will hear anything until released.

We need our Uniden rep to comment here.

Uniden is not done but for some odd reason they are taking there sweet time
There is another firmware being tested for some time but they are trying to fix a few remaining issues before release.

In my opinion, the R7 doesn't need much but what it does need is important. It needs some rear horn control for K Band.

BSM filtering is a given and it probably always will be when it comes to updates. K Block works ok for now but I don't want it to be the only option for ever, also the 24.160 and .168 are getting untolerable now too, especially from the rear antenna after you pass a polluting Pacifica or Honda.

Wow, I just clicked on the "Forums" tab and scrolled all the way down to the statics at the bottom of the page and saw the members statistics of just shy of 20k.

The R7 has been out for 7 months? And ppl think that updates are done for it. WTF!!!!
It's always funny to watch how people hyperventilate because they didn't get a weekly update. When you read through many complaints its easy to start seeing the pattern of people who are just chronic complainer's. legitimate complaints tend to be a little more thought out and typically seek solutions before they start throwing one of the most enthusiast focused RD companies to come around in a long time under the bus. Add to that the fact that they produced several of the highest performing windshield mount RD's available and I think we can all take a breath and cut them some slack.

Just because something hasn't been updated in a while, doesn't mean it is obsolete.

Didn’t Uniden just release an update for the R1 and R3? Those are older than the R7 and they’re still supporting them. Calm down take a deep breath...

They did, in Fact, add a K Band Block (notch filter) to the R1/3 . Its a 2.5 year old product. Don't know what else people want.

Yep, still running a 12 year old Stir-O and a 10 year old M3 Redline. Sure, minus K band, but Ka is nearly all I see.

Radar waves and propagation haven't changed forever, just our ability to detect it. However, what the po-po uses is still based on fundamental principles and the biggest change was analog to digital about 25 years ago. Still, an old Escort from the 80s will do just fine on Ka band and even K band. My S7 on USA Mode, nearly 20 years old does just fine on all Ka bands.
