I just completed a round trip from Boston - New Haven - Port Chester, NY - New Haven - The Big E - Boston in the past 48 hours. I spent a good chunk of time on Connecticut interstates during that period of time, traveling down I-84 South, I-91 South, I-95 South, and then all the way back up. During that time, I had an insane number of random K band false alerts all over the place. I was conscious to look around each time, and never found a typical BSM offender. There was also zero police officers anywhere to be seen. The falses also never exhibited the typical BSM behavior that the R3 displays. These were either full ramp-up and ramp-down falses or full-on I/O-type blasts for a brief period of time. The frequencies always fell within 24.12x and 24.13x. I have TSF ON on my detector, so I would hope that if traffic sensors were present, they would be filtered out. I have driven these highways many, many times with the R3 and my DFR6 in the past 1.5 years. The R3 has done this route on both 1.37 and 1.50, and never had a problem like this until the past few days.

Inversely, the rest of the drive was done in Massaschusetts. R3 was quiet as a mouse, except for three instances where a Jeep Cherokee was within line of sight. So it's weird to me that it only happened in Connecticut, and on roads I have spent a lot of time on in the past. I am curious if anyone has ever seen behavior like this.

Any chances there were overhead boards (signs)?
I don't think so. There definitely were alerts in places where there were not overhead boards.

Lidar activity has been picking up a lil' in the Worc. area on I-290. Was shot twice couples days apart by a Trooper in Full size(normal MSP paint scheme) Ford SUV using TSS. Most recent was southbound on Wed. & 2 Exits just before MassPike entrance Ramp. He was in the grass on right shoulder using shade of Bridge overpass to hide.

CT must be deploying new means of taxing its citizens. Being a Exconn and still seeing "news" about CT on FB it ain't no joke! Give it a few days I bet the state turned something on maybe those weird little boxes I saw all over for years...

I saw an insane amount of LIDAR enforcement by both Mass State Police and CT State Police, but it was almost always on the other side of the highway. LR-B and regular Truspeed by MASP, and always Truspeed S by the CT State Police. While I am thankful it was never aimed at me or marked on Waze, I saw enough. This will be the last time I do this drive without jammers.

Wouldn't shock me at this point. It did seem that those weird rectangular boxes on poles were within close proximity when this all happened.

So you've seen those boxes as well... And yeah if you plan on hauling don't run "naked" especially with easy LIDAR like that! ;)

Arkansas has dedicated K band "drones" they deploy across all our construction zones. There's a stretch of I-30, 15 miles or so, where it's straight K band falsing THE WHOLE WAY. So annoying. See @OpenRoad's video:

And this RDF post:

They deployed motion detection on the busiest parts of I-95 in CT years ago. My bro used to say that it effectively made his V1 unusable. No idea what the current status is.

I wonder if it made it's way up to I-84 as well. I had falses on alln 3 highways (84, 91, 95), but I-91 had the worst, especially between about Rocky Hill and Windsor Locks

I mostly travel along I84 (border to border) and sometimes down the Merritt Pkwy. I don't notice anything atypical along those roads.

I drove the Merritt, 91, and 84 on Saturday and didn't encounter any K band falses like you describe.

So weird. Saturday was the day I drove up the entirety of 91. There must have been some invisible BSM cuplrit around, because that's the only thing I can think of. It was just displaying frequencies that I rarely see for BSMs

From 10/1/2003:

"SUMMARY

The current system in use on I-95 from New York to Branford monitors traffic conditions and flow using video cameras, radar speed detectors, and variable message signs. Video feeds from the individual cameras are displayed on monitors in the operations center in Bridgeport, but not all cameras can be viewed simultaneously. The video feeds are viewed in real time only and are not recorded.

Modifying the system to provide full-time video surveillance of the entire corridor that could be used by law enforcement agencies later would require all of the camera feeds to be recorded and stored. While other equipment and computer software issues exist, the system probably can be turned into a surveillance system, but DOT would have to look at this in more detail. Also, even if the technical issues are settled, there would be some limitations on how much the system could observe at one time."
