I guess I must be one of the lucky ones, cause my R7 always seems to alert to laser just fine. Fortunately, I wasn't very much over the 40 MPH PSL. LEO knew what he was doing. Morning sun in the face of drivers going eastbound.

I've been recently testing my new ALP setup and in the meantime I was also trying to trigger the R7 laser alert. My R7 is installed above RVM.
The only way to make the R7 go off on laser was to point the laser gun directly to the RVM. And still the ALP installed on the grill went off couple seconds before the R7.
So I'm pretty sure that Laser alert on R7 exists only for words "detects laser" on the box.

With all that excellent radar detector testing ya'll do, I'm SHOCKED you are driving without jammers!

There has been a sudden increase in LIDAR where I drive. Locally, and Statewide. We had none until recently. Last week I got hit in my work vehicle twice in two hours! Once on 208 in Oakland, NJ, and then a statie on the Thruway near New Paltz, NY (a first for me). It's like they hired twice as many troopers, and gave them an unlimited budget. So many new vehicles now that their tripping over one another! I-84 is a joke. A real public disservice!

I love my TMG's in my personal vehicles, but it's now imperative to "up my game" in the work vehicle. TMG's are an easy install with the small connectors and centralized controller. Take a nice cool weekend day and get it done. You'll love hearing the guns you're shot with...and love the SAVES you get. ;)

I do believe that the the fact that I have mine low and in the center on the WS does make a difference for detecting laser.

Thanks for the compliment. I don't see laser very often, so I haven't been properly incentivized yet, I guess. lol. But I should get them installed.

I have my DFR9 mounted the same. Low center WS about 3" off the dash with anticipation of a laser hit. Hasn't happened yet the 7 months I've had it.
