Some of the changes coming in 1.8.5:

1) GPS icon removed in favor of a simpler textual GPS status indicator
2) V1 display icon relocated to upper right of screen, near where the GPS icon used to be
3) TMG icon relocated to bottom left of screen, where the V1 display icon used to be
4) Options to limit the number of alert table rows for each type of non-V1 alert (all alerts still mapped and/or announced as configured)
5) Options for larger map arrow and to have your location be at the tip of the arrow instead of at the center
6) Option for tail numbers on mapped aircraft
7) Map auto zoom for aircraft zooms for closest threat instead of always zooming out to ~10 miles to nearest edge
8) When CSA and/or mark alerts are ahead, map auto zooms to closest CSA/mark, regardless of nearby aircraft
9) Road name detection enhanced to reject cross streets
10) Mark alert ranges include time options for automatic, speed-dependent alert ranging (more speed = more distance)

Is it possible to fine-tune quiet ride between 25-30 MPH? It would be nice to be able to set it at 26,27,28, or 29. Thanks.

Hello. Question. WHY?

I am set to Quiet Ride all the way to 45MPH (other then a school zone just exactly how is one going to be 20 or 30 MPH over the PSL at 26MPH needing QR) and 5MPH jumps work just fine.

Currently it's adjustable in 5 MPH increments. Present your case as to how people can benefit from 1 MPH granularity and if JohnBoy00 sees your point, he might add it.

It is really easy to change that setting while driving AND there's an automatic override if you have street data available.

For example; on a known 45 MPH road, JBV1 can mute if traveling 44 MPH or less. Get on a 65 MPH highway and now it's set to 65, etc.

If I remember correctly, there must be a certain amount of "dead band" associated with the Silent Ride setting to prevent frequent toggling between off and on. For example (I'm just making these numbers up, they are not intended to be real case) if Silent Ride is set to 30mph, it may not actually activate until 2mph over, or 32mph. When slowing down, Silent Ride would remain engaged until slowing down to 2mph under the setting, or 28mph. This way it's not constantly switching on and off if traveling 30mph.

Assuming the above info is correct, since the dead band is already 4mph, gong to a 1mph increment may be overkill.

TMG auto defense mode works that way because it could otherwise be constantly sending commands to TMG while driving down the road at your selected speed. Silent Ride doesn't have to do anything most of the time (when no alerts), so it's a hard threshold. In two years, I haven't noticed or heard of any issues with that, so there's probably no reason to change it now.

thanks

Agreed! Will the same placement happen in landscape orientation?
