Is there a way to make sure that a head is firing if you don't have a lidar?

I don't have a lidar in my possession and the TMG doesn't have a self test feature....now that I have read that some V1 heads have died I want to make sure that mine are okay....especially that my 1 year warranty is coming up fast. So, how can I test my heads if I don't have a LIDAR or the LIDAR simulator? I honestly don't have much cash to spend on one since well I am currently a bum mooching of my wife's good graces, basically I am a looser scrub without a job. (No thanks to her...grumble...grumble...grumble...I could be sitting pretty in DC but no we have to move to TX...grumble grumble grumble.)

See if someone here local to you is willing to lend you one to test them out.

Pfft so you think I want to see the folks I talk to in rchat/discord in real life?! I don't want to loose the illusion of them being knights in white shinning armor driving the new MIT black nano paint (blacker than Venta black by 1000%) Koenigsegg Trevita. I really don't. They are gods in my book!

Get a dash can with nightvision. Wait until it's dark, then test with a cheapo lidar tester, you should be able to see them light up. It should be black and white on the dashcam, not color (daylight mode).

I’ve used a tv remote. Had to go through several but some set them off. Now this is just telling you it’s receiving - can’t really tell you if it’s working correctly / jamming. Cover each one up one at a time (or disconnect one at a time)

heh yeah, the handheld tester idea works great to verify each individual head is plugged in and firing. You can also try using your phone's camera to see if the sensors are firing too. I've found the iPhone's selfie camera to be more sensitive than the main one so you can try multiple cameras. They're usually easier to see at night when it's darker too. :)

Do you have this test procedure on your website somewhere? Thanks

Not really. Point tester at lidar head and push button. If laser jammer alerts, you know it can detect laser. :p

If you want to see if the jammer is also transmitting, just aim an IR-sensitive camera at the head and it can see the IR beam.

Thanks, I was just curious as to how you can tell the jammer is actually jamming. Ill try that for fun. I had mine tested so I know they jam but the iPhone trick sounds interesting. I learn something here every day it seems.

Just a note, you need the laser tester to set them off or they (shouldn't) fire. Parking mode might show up without though!
