I’ve had a V1 since the late 90’s. I’ve sent them in for upgrade throughout the years but in 2014 I quit using as I didn’t need a radar detector in my company van because I live 1 mile away from my new shop location.

Anyways it’s been sitting in a box ever since. I broke it out the other week as we are getting ready to go on a road trip and for some reason I cannot find my Saavy or the V1 Bluetooth module. Not sure where these things are and I’m kind of aggravated about that. But anyway...I want to get reacquainted with it.

For our new vehicle I bought a Blendmount with the hardwire mirror taps for a clean easy install and it should be here today.

I really don’t what to order anything from V1 given that it’s possible there may be a new unit being released or something. So I’ll just use it as I have it.

My software is 3.892.

Can anyone aid me with getting this setup for a road trip from Florida to WV traveling via GA, SC, NC, VA, and then WV?

I’m not all sure what all has been upgraded since mine was last updated but I’m sure it’s still a competent detector even without all the bells and whistles.

Not sure if this matters but our new vehicle is a 2019 Lexus RX350 F-Sport and it does have all of the crap on it that seems to make radar detectors go off on like Radar Cruise, Blind Spot mirrors

Thanks in advance.

You might want to look at this:
You'll need your V1 bluetooth module though

Perhaps the Saavy & BT modules are still installed in the old car!

Ha, that’s what I’m thinking and still quite possible. Although if you saw how my install was on my Audi S5 and all of the components I removed, it’s hard to think I would have done this.

I had the concealed display along with a separate very small mute button for quick access on the dash near the driver. But it still is possible none the less.

Unfortunately without TMF2 your detector is going to be pretty chatty on K band. If you run K off and disable Ka Guard like Deacon recommended you'll have a decent Ka detector, but K band is still used in many area of the US. Depending on the timing of the road trip, you might be able to send it in to VR for the $79 TMF2 upgrade before you leave, but if a new version release is imminent it may be prudent to wait.

Also, the V1 is detectable by RDDs, so use caution when running in VA.

You could find a used R1 or R3 for a good price (<$250) and run that on the road trip, and then sell it when V1 releases something.

Thanks guys. I reset my V1 back to factory defaults. I had to as it has been a while since I messed with these settings. So starting over is best.

Here's what I did. Tell me what you think. This is just a plain old V1 without any Savvy or BT module...straight radar detector.

1. X Band: On
2. K Band: On
3. Ka Band: On
4. Laser: On
5. More Responive
6. Ka Guard: Off
7. Features b thru G Active
8. Muted Volume set to Zero

A. Volume Set by Control Lever
b. UP (factory default)
C. UP (factory default)
d. UP (factory default)
E. Unmute at four lights
F. Unmute at six light
G. Mute rear K-Band
H. Ku On

J. POP OFF
u. Euro OFF
u. Euro X Band OFF
t. Filter ON (Traffic Monitor Filter & Junk K Fighter)
L. Don't Force Display

The only change I would make is turn Ku band off (should be off by default). It's not used in the US so there is no reason to enable it. H -> Up Arrow

Got it. Thanks!

Also, is there any reason to run X Band on any longer? I believe I used to keep it off when I had my Saavy and BT dongle.

If it doesn't hurt/interfere or make something less effective then I'll just keep it on.

X-band reportedly exists in some counties and states. I can't think of any legitimate X-band I've seen in years.

I'd suggest you not set your muted volume to zero in settings. Just turn your mute lever all the way counter-clockwise when you want it quiet and turn it up a little when you are feeling paranoid.
