Two weeks.

Non-sarcastic answer: No one knows. Uniden is not setting release dates for firmwares anymore due to problems after previous announcements.

I would settle for being able to mute K band on the rear horn.

Yeah I thought this was promised when the unit was released?

This continues to come up. Uniden never promised anything. Some leaky vendor gave people high hopes. Uniden has acknowledged the unit is capable of auto lockouts but has never promised the feature or dates.

Edit: there are Amazon and EBay sellers advertising auto lockouts on their R7 listings. These are also vendors listing this (false) info, not Uniden.

Respectfully, i disagree with you. Even Uniden support, on this very forum, recently said that Uniden did promise auto lockouts, they just didn’t promise when. I think that Uniden pretty clearly fed that information (that the R7 would have auto lockouts in the first update) to reviewers so it would get out. Then Uniden could then say they never promised when they would come, and play the victim again when people ask about the review promises of auto lockouts. This, in itself, makes me feel that this was planned by Uniden and that they knew that it was likely that auto lockouts would get held up. This way they got the sales boost from saying they had auto lockouts but could hide saying they never promised when. And I think that the lack of an explanation from Uniden in why and when is simply disingenuous at best.

Your theory is interesting and possibly correct, but I would like to see a link to any promises. They have stated on the forum the capability of it, but no promises or dates.

I think people often hear the parts they want. Perhaps Uniden played on the psychology of this.

Husband: I heard French Laundry in Yountville has open tables on Saturday.

Wife tells friend: My husband promised to take me to dinner at French Laundry this Saturday.

7/24/19, from Unidensupport:
We have been relatively vocal about the Auto Lockouts. While its true that we haven't said much about when we're expecting them- it is just something that we do not provide. We keep release dates close to heart because there is a lot that can go wrong before we actually release the update.

7/2/19, from Unidensupport:
No Problem. A lot of it has been speculation here, and with good reason... it is a feature people want and we have said that we would have it.
After a while, speculation gets turned into fact in a lot of peoples' minds and I don't much care to see people unhappy because they feel let down.

7/2/19, from Unidensupport:
The R7 was designed to have the function and we do plan on having it.

Those sure sound like a promise to me, not just the capability, but actually having it. I am pretty sure there are others but I quit searching at that point.

The same posts I saw. The best part to support a promise is “we have said that we would have it”. There is no mention of timelines. The rest is acknowledging capability.

The Escort patent will end someday. Uniden is being very careful not to promise a date which I would define as someday.

We all have our wishes for the next FW update, for me, No 1 is better BSM filtering...
-- Double Post Merged: --
Hopefully they figured out how to improve MRCD detection.
Adding MRCD was interesting as Uniden never publicity talked about this or promised, it just got announced one day...a cool new feature absolutely free, but yes it does need improvement...

What I would love to have in a firmware update.
Many are in the feature request thread, regardless....
Auto lockouts (though I didn't buy R7 for this)
Adjust rear horn sensitivity % separate from front horn.
MRCD detection to be class leading without extra falsing.
Slightly better K false & BSM filtering.
No other issues would bother me not showing up but many small improvements would help make it more refined.

100% agree with this. I think I may be slightly biased. K band is a minimal problem for my area. I have K on but tuned (neutered) for silence. I wouldn’t mind seeing options for rear horn tuning. I would probably have it around 70%.

I would probably run K consistently 20 to 30% less than what I set the front to for an area.
I revise my wish.
Have rear horn K sensitivity adjustable - % of the front horn setting.
So highway could be 100%F/80%R
Advanced 50%F/30%R
City 18%F/0%R.
Thoughts?
