Just picked up a barely-used, no-upgrade-needed V1 off of Craigslist for $150 today. I’m sure that means the revised model will be released tomorrow... You’re welcome, everybody!! :p

Hopefully you didn't wash your car today as well. I'm not sure a guy could handle two hits like that in a row.

That was a great deal BTW!

Thanks - yeah I was looking for a detector for when I’m not driving my old TT with the ALP/NRDSP duals. In the $150 detector price bracket, this seemed like a good option... Can’t wait to start messing around with it!

Make sure you pick up a BT dongle and check out JBV1 or V1Driver

Thats a good price point and with the dongle, apps and a phone it can be pretty incredible. I don't know for sure, and others will chime in, but I thought I heard there is website you can to and by entering the serial number, you can determine the version and if stolen etc.

I’ve been doing that for every reasonably-priced V1 on Craigslist in my area. $200 and needs a $280 upgrade to be current for a short while? No thanks.

I emailed VR via their web site contact form and asked whether this one had been reported stolen. Hats off to them - they replied very quickly. Said it was not stolen. So, I pulled the trigger.

Funny side note - the plan was to meet in a Target parking lot. I arrived and saw only one car in the empty end of the lot (old and kinda beat Ford Taurus) with a kid sitting in the drivers seat. I *swear* there was a cord hanging down from the headliner. I parked and walked over to him. He rolled down the window but then kinda gave me a blank look. No more cord. He had no idea what I was talking about. I went back to my car, and then a nice Audi S4 pulled up right next to me. *That* was the actual seller’s car.

Sorry, you got it too cheap for a revised model to come out tomorrow. Now if you had paid $300 or more, maybe....lol

That is way bellow what a used one goes for.

I would call v1 and check the Vin number, so you do not accidentally send it in for service or upgrade and you have the FBI knocking on your door lol.

Nah, you got at least 2 weeks before the "new V1" comes out!

I emailed and checked before purchasing. Seller had provided photo of serial number in Craigslist posting. VR replied very quickly with “not reported stolen”.

the plan was to meet in a Target parking lot.
That doesn't sound safe. Shouldn't you have met in the lobby of your local police station??? :shifty:

When they say two weeks, were you talking to a programmer?
Was he speaking in decimal, hex or binary?
You should get clarification.

- I wonder what % of stolen detectors are reported to VR ? Less than 10% ?
Imagine if you checked and it was cleared ok and then reported stolen after that. Then you send it in for an upgrade.............

"two weeks" seems to be standard industry lingo for "we really have no fucking clue".

if anyone wants a good laugh, check out this product that was supposed to come out in April 2019:

It's said "coming this Spring" since February.

And if you scroll down, look at the Questions & Answers. The Lenovo replies from over a month ago all keep saying "2 weeks". Crazy how similar this wait has been compared to the wait for the "new" V1.
