Too close for comfort for 2/5/8 band segmentation.

The other day I picked up LEO behind me at 34.588 at the very edge of segmentation 5. If it went down .003 or .002, I could have missed him. Sorry for the photos. For some reason, I have to take a series of shots to get the frequency when taking a picture of the R7's display with my phone. I may have to enable 4 and 6 after this encounter since most encounter's I have are stalkers in Ka band and only a few 35.5 and 33.8.

That is pretty close. I'm usually paranoid for this reason and usually run majority of the segs to be safe. Usually more customization isn't always a bad thing.

I've been running 34.401 to 34.907 (Top portion of seg 4 to bottom portion of seg 6) just for that reason. Although, all I'm picking up is more falses in segment 4 now.

same here, the 34+ falses are not worth it on daily drives. for that reason, I only seg when on highway roadtrips

With my R7, I've turned off Ka segmentation completely after I read a post from @BestRadarDetectors about it not really speeding things up.

I haven't seen any Ka falsing in three months other than the one or two constant spots I know of in my usual commute. Of which, a lockout can handle.

One of them I actually leave unlocked just so I have a known point of alert. There are many days the R7 didn't alert at all. That one false spot is my little checkpoint to make sure the R7 is still working.

If you look at the scan rate chart there is not a huge difference if you add 4 & 6 in addition to 5, but over all still a significant reduction in scan time by using the segmentation feature instead of wide.

So you are running it in Ka wide?

Not me! all 4 of my R1's are at 2-5-8 as well as my Redlines! Only if we go out of state will I bring in seg 6. NC keeps everything damn near spot on! I can see a difference on my bench during Q/T shots with each new segment added. It's not a big difference, but in I/O hell NC, every little bit helps!

I find the best setting is "On" with any RD these days. I'm worn out on all of it. I do tweak quiet ride and run my displays "Off" @night and Dark in the daytime.
That's just me though, its nice to have the features available.

There is a legit 34.35 in Utah. I make sure my sweeps cover that.
I'm in SW UT. Where are you seeing this?
I am running: Seg 2/4/5/6/8 for this reason as well.

He likely patrols North of Ogden. Came upon a UHP vehicle in a parking lot in Box Elder County transmitting Radar while the LEO was attending a religious function. Not sure of his area for sure, but I don’t believe he would drive his car very far for something like that.

A few days later, during Brigham City Peach Days, I picked up the same frequency in a residential area, but could not confirm the source.
