Any way to increase R7 volume? In a convertible w/ top down above 40 it's hard to hear

One last question. Upon reading this will not remember the same frequency at the same gps coordinates automatically like I can do in JBV1 and also how escort does it correct? I must manually mark every false?

Dave
I believe that Escort has a bigger radius than the R7's lockout coverage and in some instances you have to lock the same source twice with the R7. So don't be surprised. Here are some discussions about it and a reference source from Heywood regarding the radius of the lockout area.

Yes the light pipe (eagle eye) is also used for auto brightness. The R7 does not currently have auto lockouts, so yes you need to manually lock out every stationary false alert. In the future, the R7 is supposed to get the auto lockout feature and will be called Dynamic Memory Function.
Have they given any time frame on the auto lockouts? I cannot see this being a hard thing to implement as it only needs to store coordinates vs. frequency and some type of acceptable location and frequency tolerance algorithm.

I saw this from march:

I dont have a date but the coding from my understanding is already done but its locked until they are ready to release the feature. It will be called Dynamic memory function in the future menu.

Escort currently holds the patent for auto lockouts. For awhile there were posts here saying that patent expires this past June (2019), but no one was 100% sure on that, and we’ve heard nothing from Uniden regarding anything about when auto lockouts will be implemented into the R7, only that it’s supposed to happen sometime in the future. When that is (one month from now, six months, one year, etc.)? That hasn’t been said.

I find it odd someone can hold a patent for the ability to store data on a storage device and reference it. Anyone can create their own code to do this, there has to be something else in the patent. JBV1 does it so does YaV1 in software utilizing GPS from an external device. Strange.

Yeah I’m not sure how all that works (the patent stuff), but I hope auto lockouts come to the R7 sooner rather than later, as I’d like to see how they compare to Escorts auto lockout feature. There are other members here that know more in depth about patents, so they may chime in.

On my motorcycle, much like convertible, only the WHITE color display on BRIGHT setting is enough to see in most settings.
You do get more volume with latest firmware, should be okay, but a motorbike with earplugs is is worse.
You could use an amplified speaker system for RDs. I believe Escort has them.

Just posted this in another thread. My R3 is stupid loud now but can be very quiet ;)

I highly recommend buying the Escort external powered speaker. It's $20 new on eBay. They're still on sale there. You will need "mono to stereo" adapter or it won't work (since R3 is stereo output for the 3.5mm).

And R3 does better in terms of controlling volume. At level 6 it almost overpowers the speaker so if I'm playing music, I leave the volume at 4 and if my kiddos are in the car or not playing music, volume 2. Five makes me crap my pants when Ka goes off.

Man i hope the auto lockout feature becomes available soon. I got this at amazon and may return it if It doesn't. When I get false K alerts I don't always know if it's a car or something that is consistent and stationary. I'd fill up all my lockout points very quickly if i was just locking out when I got a false K. My memory isn't good enough to know for sure if an alert I heard prior is the same one at the same place teh next time I go through there.

My R7 has been exceptionally well behaved in my area, a few lockouts needed on strong door openers that spew out onto Main streets.
Advanced mode most used.
K at 30 to 50% depending on amount of K pollution.
K block on
Quiet Ride 30 mph (or speed limit for your city streets)
K filter on
TSF on
RLC Quiet Ride 60 mph
Auto mute on, level 2
MRCD off
K Pop off

With this you should only have to lock out really strong door openers and speed signs.
Good luck.

I don't understand why you'd want RLC quite ride on. It won't alert to RLC below 60 mph?

If you don't know for sure, use a User Mark instead. If it doesn't alert to radar the next time you drive by and it tells you the User Mark is coming up, then delete the User Mark. If it does alert, use a lockout and delete the User Mark.

That's an idea. i may play around w/ that. Just press mark once during alert nd what will it say when i'm near a user mark? DO I just press mute once while mark is signaling to mute permanently?

Above 60 mph.
That's so while on a major road a nearby camera on side street doesn't alert if you are close enough.
Set to whatever you want, just remember how fast are you going before you wouldn't slam on the brakes to stop when a light goes yellow.

Forgot to recommend K narrow on if recommended for your area.
