Firstly, I wanted to thank everyone for your continued support and patience throughout the life of YaV1. After much deliberation, I have come to the conclusion, after discussing with Francky, that the best way, and potentially the only way, for YaV1 to reliably continue on is with marking the project as Open Source.

As such, I have created this github repository that will track the open source lifecycle of this project and implore anyone and everyone that is able to, to feel free to contribute, or read more about the applications logistics.

Once again, thank you for your continued support for YaV1 and I look forward to working with anyone who is willing to contribute and help out.

Thanks

Thank you for this @fanta and @francky06l!

Hopefully someone can build off of this or at least get some ideas. If nothing else, it's interesting to take a look at the code under the hood!

Additionally, I am leaning to quarterly releases if any open source contributions are outstanding. Anyone who wants to help, please let me know if you have any questions, need any assistance, or just want to chat! Thanks everyone

Great idea! YaV1 is/was a great app and hopefully this helps breathe some life into it to keep it fresh and continuing to be developed. :)

Ok you will know my question that I am not a computer guy, but does open source mean anyone can write/work on the app?

Thanks. Look forward to seeing where this app goes.
Just to note that before it becomes production-ready, any changes will be reviewed and confirmed for legitimacy and to ensure no malicious additions are made throughout the life of the project.

From what I recall, the main barrier to use these days (even before the appearance of JBV1) was BTLE support. Is that something that’s been added already, or does that remain to be done?

That unfortunately is a remaining item to be completed.
