I have two VIP Antennas (front & rear) I am getting 1."The connection to the HD antenna has been lost" and 2."An error occured commuting with the HD antenna. The HD antenna will now be reset (as only happened once)". When I get number 1 , I get home and test with stalker and they are both working.

When I am on the road and get Number 1. the unit is still detecting, pressing ok and VIP display shows everything normal.
It would be nice if the error message told me which antenna was having the problem.
So does anyone know how I find (log or something) so I can tell which antenna is getting error ( I suspect rear)?

Currently running Version: 4.4.00 OK

Thanks
Dennis

I"m not sure about logs, but the latest version is v4.6UK and might address the problem.

Reaching out to Stinger support might be the next best step. Either way keep us posted.

Ok Updated to 4.6 and that went ok. I will try it for a week and see if that takes care of errors. If not then I'll try disconnecting the rear antenna (this is one I suspect may have caused errors) and try for a while.

I will report back in a week if no error, if I get errors before then I will post here. Only thing I notice for new version is takes a liitle bit before the light for laser turns from yellow to green .

How old is your system?
About two to three years. I was going to look it up but Cliffs web site is gone (use to be able to look up purchase history) I bought in phases. First vip plus laser squares, fiber laser TX, then more squares and added rear antenna about a year ago.

UPDATE: found original order date: 12/09/2015

Ok , It went a few days after software up before getting the error again. Tomorrow I'm going to climb around under car and see if there is anything obvious ( not sure what I'm expecting to see).

If I don't find anything physical then I will disconnect the rear antenna for now (error message still doesn't identify which antenna it's reporting error for). There must be some kind of loggng I can turn on so I could send it to Stinger. Guess I will send Stinger an email asking how to turn on logs so they can tell me what is going on.

Thanks for the update. Definitely try unplugging one to find which is the issue. It’s not unheard of to have a part get compromised over time if it’s exposed to the elements. Particularly if you live somewhere a lot of road salt is used. There’s another thread where the OP experiences this with his laser heads.

Also, have you tried a factory reset?

UPDATE:
I upgraded to 4.6 - still received error.
Unplugged/re-plugged both antennas
Did a factory reset.

Still get error , so will send info off to stinger and see what they say, suspect they will have me turn on some logging or try some steps.

I will uodate when I receive response from them.

9/9/2019 sent Stinger email with description of problem and steps I took to diagnose.
Received response that someone will look into it , in Dutch ( did google translate).

The patch has probably died on you. I had one go out and was sent another.

I think it was approaching 2 years. I front antenna is the one that went out and was mounted in the cabin behind the rearview mirror. I've got the replacement sitting in a box never installed.

The front patch is a couple of years , the rear is about a year ( purchased it when I upgraded computer center to new model)
How did you tell which one it is? As you can see from the picture the error message doesn't say which one it is.

I could tell because it would never switch front/rear on the display. Assuming it still functions this way, with one antenna, the VIP defaults it as the front on the display. LEOs were getting really close before I would pick them up and then the signal would go full strength when they would pass me. Mine came up with the connection error only a few times and then I guess it just went out and the system thought I had only one antenna.

I believe the warranty is 2 years. I'm getting the same error after updating to 4.6.00, but unfortunately mine are >2 years old.

The weird thing is I get 1/4 pie on display for both front and rear .when LEO in front get front pie, LEO in rear get rear pie. At home I have shot both front and rear with my stalker gun and they both register correctly.

That’s not going to be fun to track down which antenna is acting up. I would be tempted to unplug the rear antenna and see if the error goes away.
