Welcome to Mudslide’s Green Pillow Test. Today we have 2 “instant on” quick trigger tests on firmware 1.50- with both K and Ka 35.5

R1 / Testing Eqip- MPH Python II
Test 1 question, does TSF ON or OFF make any difference in detecting instant on K?
Results- not really, K Filter was on for both, and K Filter is likely the culprit for the misses, not TSF. Having TSF on or off didn’t appear to really matter.

R1 / Testing Equip Decatur Genesis II
Test 2 question, does Ka filter ON or OFF make any difference in detecting instant on Ka 35.5? Results- maybe, There were several complete misses with Ka filter on. With Ka filter off, we were getting about 4 signal strength bars and only 3 with Ka filter off. Something “seemed” to be going on.

Would you be so kind as to clarify, thanks.

The Ka filtering changing the reactivity of the detector is really worry. The directional orientation of the antenna likely plays a role.

Have you tried aligning the front of the radar unit with the horn of the RD? Likely would see a improvement on that front. Polarization? Attenuation?

if you segment, there is really not a big reason to run with KA filter on.

K band is worrisome if K band is aggressively used in your area.

Thanks for the test!

I thought Ka filter was mainly for the 33.8 +/- cobra falses

I never run Ka filter On, the only Ka falses I get are 33.74x satellite antenna falses and I lock them out.

I have mine segged to 2,5,6, and 8. I run K filter off.

I get 33.8 falses somewhat frequently- a satellite dish around 33.750 and random cobras at 33.8.

On my passport X70, I would get Ka 34.498 falses in shopping center parking lots. I turned KaN2 off and that fixed that.

In the video, the fact that there appears to be some minor performance hit on Ka 35.5 with Ka filter on, this filter probably deals with all Ka frequencies and not just around 33.8. Just my theory

These tests are exactly what I was hoping to see. I feel much better traveling to Ohio next week where I’ll need to run TSF on. You guys with the equipment to run these tests are awesome!

Thank you for testing! I’ve always wondered this...do these type of tests mimic a situation where let’s say you were 1 to 2 miles out on a straight away and a cop hits the car in front of you and then turns his radar off?

Can you roll back your FW version to 1.37 and see if they perform differently with the same settings?

How can you make a fair comparison with your 1.37 test vs your 1.50 test? It is not a fair comparison based on the set up. On your 1.37 testing the radar antenna was above the bed cover and has a better line of sight than the 1.50 test. Try doing the same set up with the antenna on top of the bed cover and test the 1.50 again.

I was just sharing on “old” video. I am not going back to 1.37:)

Here’s another old video with 1.46

Good point. It’s on my list. However, If a new V1 comes out soon, I’ll get distracted with that
