Credit goes to @RRJ for finding this news article.

It looks like South Jordan, UT. now has LTI TruVision. They're reportedly using it for speeding citations, cell phone use citations, and following too closely (tailgating, 2s or less distance) citations.

@Zbc1969 - Yes, it is laser (LIDAR). This model specifically has a built in video camera for taking both video and still photos which show the target vehicle. If they catch you speeding with LIDAR, you'll also be on video with the speed reading overlaid on of the video output.

If you get hit and stopped, you'll likely not get out of a ticket as the video evidence would be hard to defend against.

Are you in Utah?
@Zbc1969- Sorry - this came across rude. I'm a little stressed this morning and wasn't thinking clearly when I wrote this. What I was thinking but didn't write, was to ask if you're in Utah, because if so, this is the worst we have to deal with here. It's bad, but nothing like DETC/DALA or Stalker XLR and RLR. Apologies for coming across short - it wasn't my intention.

Neat little gun I might add. Maybe we should request that for the Dragon so we can capture all our testing events... HA!

You’re fine! I didn’t think it was rude. What bands and frequencies are used in Utah? Specially around SLC, Sandy, Draper, etc

Utah is all Ka and K band. It will vary greatly by County and City. I’ll post a few links here in just a few minutes...

Unfortunately it already exists. Search for "DragonCam"

Thanks for the education! Based on that I wonder how often one becomes available for sale. Would be an interesting add to any collectors inventory.

There's also a rebranded version of this gun called the ATS Street Safe. Recently being used by Scottsdale PD in Arizona.

Thanks y'all! I already bought an R3 and a 360max and I'm going to run them for a couple weeks to figure out which one I like better and want to keep. I've been burning through reviews from that vortex guy and narrowed it down to these two. Thoughts on either?

@Zbc1969 - Two suggestions to help keep conversation organized... :)

1. Post an introductory thread so we can get to know you. It also helps us put our conversation to you into context as we'll better understand the threat landscape where you're at, as well as your experience and familiarity with radar detectors

Introductory Thread forum section here: Introduce Yourself

2. Chaining off of your question about the two detectors you've mentioned, we have a little voluntary survey with some questions. Fill these out if you would be so kind, and we'll be glad to give you feedback on them.

Copy the post template from here:

And fill it out and post it in here, with a title of something like "Seeking Advice on Escort Max 360c vs Uniden R7"

This will help bring the right sets of eyes with relevant experience along to your threads to help offer opinions from various user experiences.

3. Welcome to RDF!
