Looking at a used pro M as I can’t rationalize the full $500. I found a unit for $350 that has a serial number starting with RM039 which makes me think it is an early generation of the device now that a generation 2 is out.

I searched the forums and only found info about RM077 and RM086 or something like that. This makes me think the RM033 is the first release. Can anyone confirm?

077 was first generation. Canada only
Anything other than that is a 2nd generation and the same. There’s no difference.

Awesome! Thanks for the quick responses and clarity.

I’d like to buy new but that isn’t in the cards right now and even at 30% less, it’s still a stretch.

Have been lurking this forum for several months and it has been super informative. The BSM filtering on the Pro M is very enticing compared to Radenso’s counter parts.

Thanks again!

I am assuming its this one:

This is not a PRO-M, but may be something you can look into if you do not want to spend PRO-M bucks

If all you’re looking for is K-band range, give a Belscort M3 a look ;)

I would look seriously at that current-gen Pro-M. For the money, you can also get an R3. Both good choices.

They seem to sell for just under $400

hopefully so. I really only need it on my trip to Utah/Moab in October (1-2weeks) so worse case I’ll buy one and sell it at a small loss. The drive is 1000 miles and I try to do it in one stretch. Around town and in the Bay Area, I don’t speed as much as it’s too congested. Also, they use lidar locally as their main equipment and I’m not going to spend the $1-2k to get a laser shifter.

Just a heads up. The pro M is pretty weak when it comes to laser

Thanks! I’m aware. I figure at this point, even the best radar detectors are just going to alert you that you’re getting a ticket from Lidar reading.

Seems almost pointless to have a radar detector where I’m at due to this fact alone. Alas, if it covers my butt on this trip in October once, it’ll have paid for itself and then I can feel better about writing off the loss from reselling it after use.

I would buy any Pro M that was discounted in price.
It is fabulous.
My wife has taken ownership of it and I get the R7.
Both are top notch.
R7 is more for techno geeks and Pro-M is more for everyday people who just want stuff to work without drama.
