Someone said something about this a few days ago.
We as a group are probably a small concern to any of the manufacturers.

We are sort of picky and argumentative because we know more than the average consumer. We can speculate because VR hasn't released good info through the standard channels. Anything more definite would be considered here-say because it's coming from one person who heard it from so and so.

From VR's perspective, we are maybe one of the newest detector groups that wants to know stuff that VR doesn't want to let out of the bag. That doesn't mean that they must tell us just because we want to know.

Maybe they are afraid how quickly things "travel" when found out about here!

Plus I am tried of just using the Passport on the Interceptor and want to buy a V1 so I can run JBV1 on the bike also. I am already moving the better half's V1 between her car and the Kawasaki Concour which I am tried of doing.
It's nearly as good on the bike. The only hitch I have is not being able to change settings etc on the move. But that may not be the case with different mountings.

I spoke to a "tech" a few days ago.

Minor case update
Minor "updates"
Increase price

I dumped it on FB for $280. Tired of waiting for V1 to get their shit together.

Interesting. Don't recall anyone indicating a conversation with a tech before. I think it's only been customer service reps up until now and they sounded like they were winging it, hence all the conflicting info.

Wonder if the techs will prove to be more credible. Or not.

this has been the rumor that has been the most consistent and is very believable, question is will it have improved performance and range

"Minor case upgrade" / change coincides with a necessary change in controls that we have speculated on.
"Minor updates" is not unexpected whether it be due to the the above changes or stuff they had in the pipeline.
"Increased price" is again consistent with changes. They haven't raised the price in 20+ years.

The only truly useful info from VR in this instance is the case change. The rest can be inferred and deemed likely without them stating it.

I seriously doubt it. In VR world you talk, you die....

Has anyone checked for fcc approval or new patents lately?
I don’t think it’s a patent thing. They could slap a patent pending sticker on and keep rolling.

Alrighty then, Been reading this topic laughing, rolling my eyes and thinking.
Going to toss out some craziness.

Would GM stop building cars because they couldn’t get a bearing? NO.
Would Sony stop building TVs because they couldn’t get a capacitor? NO.
Would American stop flying jets because a couple of them crashed? Um, well Hmmm..
Let’s not go there.

Here it is: They designed a new unit. It’s so much better that they made an executive decision to do a EOL on the V1.
Then they found out something’s wrong.
Hardware / Firmware, don’t know.
They are committed. All into the new design.
They have to fix the problem. Units are built.
Valentine is a perfectionist. He won’t ship anything but the best. No recalls. And they can’t admit there’s a problem because it would soil the launch and their reputation. Be akin to shooting themselves in the foot.
Better to say ‘Two Weeks’ and ride it out.

Does anyone know how many people work at Valentine besides Mike? I figured it must be a small operation of 3 or 4 people. If so then it would take them a long time to build out any quantity.

This has been mentioned in some form or another many times since April/May. It does conflict some with the "minor tweaks" line that people have been told but maybe they caused a major problem. I don't think letting customers know you are "perfecting" the next release and it's taking some time would "soil" their reputation more than missing shifting dates on product availability that has gone on for a very long time now. Release dates for products get pushed for unexpected issues all the time. Customers are more understanding knowing that than Mike gives them credit for I guess.

Also I think they stopped using the "two weeks" line about two weeks ago. Then again it might have been two weeks ago two weeks ago that they stopped.

Well yeah all of those listed above would stop if they didn't have the part. You think manufacturers keep building when they don't have the actual part needed to complete the task?

Curious, Were you waiting to update your out of date V1, or just waiting for something new from VR?
Update the out of date V1 which they offered $110. I asked to talk to a tech to see if I could get an answer on an always on X band that I had to program off. I started to ask questions and got what I got.

They also gave me the '2 week' BS. I said I've heard that for 2 years now....
