I can understand the frustration that a few buyers might have currently and the resulting ultimatum attitude that a subset of those buyers might develop.

We don't know what has happened and what changes might have been required. I'd think that a majority of common buyers would be glad to simply buy a V1 if that's what they want.

The trade wars might not have started this issue, but I bet they can have an effect on the issues now.

Call MV and give him the heads up to either get something new out in "2 weeks" or shut down. I'm sure he will appreciate the feedback.
This is MHO of the current state of VR affairs. In MY opinion he can not kick the same can down the road any longer. VR had a great run but things change and its time for Mike to show his cards. 5 months no product is a total fiasco. Again I now have an order for 3 detectors but if it's same old V1 I cancel no doubt about it. I do like VR very much but will not buy just for nostalgic reasons. It has to be a better unit!

MV should start sourcing his parts from America rather than China.

So I ordered something for a Halloween costume, and then found out it's coming from China. The estimated ETA?

You guessed it: two weeks. :banjo:
Just don't tell them you use a V1 that will delay the costume 2 weeks or maybe more

You’re wrong about that.

5 months no product is a total fiasco.
You’re right about that.

It has to be a better unit!
What would constitute “better” enough to make you happy, out of curiosity? “Available” is sufficient for most buyers out there. They’re not us. So what would it take for you? Improved BSM filtering? An increase in reactivity? Matching the Pro-M in raw range tests? Moving to a failure prone giant billboard OLED display? The ability to hop off the windshield and transform into a self-powered fleshlight during periods of no alerts?

The difference is that consumers are under no illusion that Uniden products are made in America.
Says made in Taiwan on the bottom of the R3..heh

I think he was saying buy parts from a company in America that already has them in stock from China
No...I'm saying that V1 should use components that are made in the U.S. / S. Korea and not those made in China.
That is unless you don't mind buying a radar detector that is assembled in the U.S. using Chinese components.

Can you name a single other detector that is assembled in the US? And one using exclusively US-made components?

Would you prefer "Assembled in America using Chinese components" on the bottom of V1's?
Can you name a single other detector that is assembled in the US? And one using exclusively US-made components?
There are none.
But I also cannot name another detector co. that has had to put their production on hold for months and then suggesting the problem is due to the required parts are on a slow boat from China.

I think Boeing built a 747 from scratch 40 years ago faster. I mean they had nothing not even a building

Frank Sinatra did not only sing I did it my way... At some point you need to embrace change.
