I'm glad to see this thread has stayed alive. It does a great job of exposing people. Posts range from the absurd to some very well thought out arguments (some of which I respect, even though I may disagree). It will be interesting to look back at this thread, once the new V1 comes out.
I just love the self-absorbed who have this need to declare with authority the current world affairs on all things V1. Not only do they waste the time conjuring up the most ridiculous notions, but clearly they don't understand Mike one iota. But, they will carry on developing their twisted visions, and have the gall to actually post such nonsense as fact. Pretty hilarious if you ask me.

Let me clue a few folks in. Mike isn't going anywhere. It's not in his DNA, and he absolutely has a finely honed vision and plan. Clearly, there have been a few isolated issues, perhaps component related - But also perhaps, bad timing on the final patent approval dates, but anyone who thinks the guy has checked out is severely mistaken. Something worth while is coming.

The good news is, once the black curtain gets pulled, all of the dumb proclamations in this thread is going to get flushed. YOU flunky fortune tellers should be extremely happy about that. However, I do think we should save some of the most absurd so we don't let some of the most flagrant offenders off the hook to rewrite history of their great support.

So why the contradictions in your logic? Mike wants to concentrate on philanthropy yet hasn't sold his main product in 7 months, doesn't seem like the way to go about that! And not selling ones main product for 7 months is also not the way to get the most bang for your buck if Mike V were wishing to sell the company either. Yes he has patents but how much are they worth to other Detector manufactures that don't have his vision or that want to mass produce cheap easy to break detectors, I will tell you not much.

So if Mike were wanting to exit and reap a reward then the thing to do is be actively selling his main product and having completely developed and produced the current V1's replacement. That is how he maximizes the worth of his company. More importantly the one item that is worth the most at Valentine Research is THE V1! The name itself, its history, its legend, its reliability, etc, etc. The only way to make money off that asset is with the current V1 or a new replacement that keeps all those things the V1 is famous for while either matching or exceeding the capabilities of current detectors. In other words, it does Uniden no good to buy VR and then release a V1 branded R7!

I can really only see two possible things happening in VR's near future: 1) The current V1 is released again after a production run for stock or 2) They do have an updated model ready but something is holding them back from releasing it. Just speculating here, but what if a V1 with the new patents is ready yet there is an issue with the Firmware. Unlike the R7 that could be released and truly final firmware released after sales started, Mike doesn't have this luxury because only VR can update firmware. In other words what is the one thing that would be truly worse then what is happening now? That one worse thing would be to release an updated V1, then have to have them all sent back for a $79 firmware upgrade because the updated V1 was rushed to market! And even if they did it under warranty, it would still be a nightmare.
.
Remember they had like a two day sales meeting/training too before this all went down. They stopped taking calls and basically closed shop. I remember it being for several days. It was definitely a thing and they told people about it too I believe.

Which makes the whole thing of them behaving so strangely with conflicting information so odd. Unless, it's intentional to cause deception so we along with their competition have absolutely no idea what's going on. I would assume they knew something big was coming from Radenso, moreso than we would since they're in the business and in the same general area.

Im no longer 100% sold that a major update is for sure happening, but if it did maybe this is the simplest and most likely reason behind the weird behavior. And as for the delay, I think some of it was intentional but maybe they then hit a challenge with FW or something.

For a bit I thought well maybe they now want to see what Radneso shows at SEMA before potentially bringing the V1 back into sale before Christmas... There's still time for holiday shopping. I think that's too much of a conspiracy though.

I think if a newly updated V1 happens Mike might show us you can still have a killer, effective unit at an affordable price without relying solely on AI. I'm certainly excited for that, especially if it has a FPGA inside! I might be too poor for the new Radenso.

Integrated Bluetooth and just TMF3 that's equivalent to the Pro M would be cake.

I personally would be a bit sad if they simply threw in the towel, I can see how that makes sense for a regular business type. Just doesn't make sense with VR, I personally think. The idea of a sale is tempting, but I don't believe it.

Unless you personally know MV and regularly have a scotch and cohiba with him isn't your post just as 'self-absorbed' as everyone else's?
Pretty sure you are 'declaring with authority' your opinion, no?

No Buz, it's not my opinion. Take the initiative and DO YOUR own Research. There are plenty of opportunities to educate yourself, to get a clearer vision on what's going on - reading posts from reliable members and doing your own leg work for a change. You don't have to be drinking buddies with anyone to gain simple insights. Yes, I've met and spoken to Mike a number of times over the years, as recently as July or August. Yes, I've talked to many on their staff over the past few months. In all situations, I've avoided the topic of new product and crafted my questions from the peripheral for clues, particularly listening to the office background to gauge how busy things sound. I don't call every day or week, but once a month is really not a whole lot of time to invest, to hone your own opinion. Seems kind of sad you forced me to spell things out for you, but it's pretty sad to see a grown man behave here as you do.

Perhaps instead of continually complaining about BSM issues that effect ALL Mfr's your time would be better served other ways. I've told you already to get another product if you think V1's with JBV1's BSM solution is inferior to the competition, but still here you are complaining - Every single day. All you want to do is complain about how bad things are, but who's better? Jeez, do us a favor and get something better already! All the whining and tantrums in the world isn't going to change a thing, bro.

Trust me, it's isn't all about YOU! That I know for a fact, LOL.

I am not 'Self-aborbed" but I think it is a logical guess. I have been though 2 company mergers and 1 company that was right out sold. The employees and customers are the last to know what is really happening.

I would hate to see him go too. I loved my "Password" radar and did not like anything until the V1 came out! I think it would be great if Radneso purchased V1 and upgraded to beat R7 and the 360.

Jeez. Guess I touched a nerve?
Actually, yes, you will be very happy to know that as of about two hours ago I have finally stopped complaining about BSM. You will no longer have to endure my incessant whining about BSM's. Someone finally did something about it.

Thank goodness Buz. I knew you could do it! I truly hope that Jon delivers for you. Just do us a favor, and post your reviews over there where it belongs. TIA.

Buz, I'm being sincere. You know I've been advocating alleviating your issues by purchasing a better solution for some time. You claim you did just that, and I am absolutely elated.

I also shared that I truly pray that Jon's claims actually work. Sounds interesting, but then again, you don't have to spend much time over on the Uniden forum to see how visions don't always translate as well as folks would hope. Nuff said.

And lastly, I suggested posting your eventual reviews over on the the other forum, where it belongs. I don't see you as the type that would cross post on other mfr forums to troll, right?

Cheers bro!

New Radenso AI is a game changer. If they pull off the implementation without any major screwups, then even a refreshed V1 won't be enough to compete IMO. I think the death knell for the V1 has rung.
Probably not the appropriate place to say this, I mean we're all thinking about it. Let's just enjoy the new info!

I’m definitely not a troller. At least not intentionally.
Just seemed like you expected me to know something that I honestly didn’t know. Then you made me feel like an ass because I didn’t know.
What say we sweep this one under the rug?

Who ever thinks a death knell is tolling, is a half a deck short of a full deck. All you have to do is look at history. Cobra's outsell Escort 20 to 1. There are always going to be consumers buying anything from the batman detector to a top-of-the line detector. How much of a game changer, how big of an impact, will come down to price points. Risk vs. Reward.

Spend $1K on a detector vs $1K on vacation, for me, vacation would win every time. I would estimate that over 80% of the volume is in the under $300 detector market. 15% is in the $300-600 range, and 5% is in the over $600 range.

Now, if someone was to come up with a predictive I/O radar detector, I might change my tune.

I'm sorry, but that would take a crystal ball plugin and no one has one of those. Theia with RAI says we can analyze the hell out of a signal , but its gotta "be there" to do that.

In all honestly Buz, in my first post today #2281, I wasn't responding to you at all. So naturally, I was rather surprised when you responded to me, somehow suggesting my post was inappropriate. I've got a thick skin, so water under the bridge - All good.

And, then comes Conehead to stir things up again, lol. Oh well.

The RAI can apparently identify when a signal is IO based on the signature of the gun "booting up". Not going to predict when IO will be used before its seen (crystal ball), but this is pretty damn close.

Oddly enough in VRs high probability of intercept radar detector patent they mention doing something similar as well, near the bottom of the patent! I always thought that was cool!
