Release will be within 2 weeks.
Display and some internals are different.
No major radical changes.
Mount will stay the same.
Bluetooth is now internal - there will be no need for external BT unit.
Price will be $449.
Pre-orders are being accepted at this time.

Eat my shorts, @Transporter :) :woot:

No major radical changes.
Your words or theirs?

I didn't expect any changes in the case. Its worked so well for years, and has now been copied by a competitor (although slightly bigger).

With a change to internals, I was expecting a "radical" (or exponential) change in scan speed.

These are their words, not mine.

Just called as well. They said the parts have arrived and there will be a price increase with "minor" facelift and Bluetooth changes. Website will be updated with changes. Timeframe was given at 2 weeks however I mentioned this has been the case for months but was closer since parts are now in stock and V1's are under assembly.

Rep said she hasn't even seen what one of these updated V1's looks like and seemed very uncertain of everything.

I read that to be that the information has not even been released internally which would explain varying accounts and stories we have heard over the past few months.

They don't exactly give out information precisely either. I inquired on the upgrade cost for any version at/above 3.8945 and she said it would be a $79 firmware upgrade. Clearly this could not be the case with everything she was mentioning so there was some level of miscommunication going on. I add this detail again only to show how so many threads contain so much varying information. Based on this phone call with this rep there is no way to know what the upgrade cost will be. This will available via the website as usual once it is updated.

Maybe roll this into whatever existing thread we have though?

Lol another trolls thread? :p . Bluetooth can't be internal due to patents from Escort if I'm not mistaken
I dont think it would violate any patents just having a BT chip.. There are many devices that have built in BT but I think their patents are more on the function of the BT Chip in a radar detector.

Clue's in the name
1) I'll believe it when it's announced on V1's website or a RDF member actually gets his hands on one.

2) To the best of my knowledge, the patent for Bluetooth in the unit itself belongs to Escort. Which, if true, means either (a) Mike V. is rolling the dice and willing to risk getting sued by Escort or (b) he licensed the technology from Escort.

3) While a improved display is nice, I would really rather have performance/range increases. I love my V1 but it's getting a little long in the tooth and not comparing favorably to more modern units.

3a) I'm actually okay with TMF2's performance. When using an app like JBV1, I don't get many falses anymore.

3b) Regarding the display: Since I use JBV1, the actual unit's display is not a big priority for me. That being said, if I didn't use JBV1, I would be perfectly okay with changing the display to something similar to the aftermarket options with different colors for bands and maybe the arrows (red for front, green for side, yellow for red).

If there are to be display changes, I'd guess that it was out of necessity at this time.

Ok, I'm excited. BUT...
Nothing about BSM rejection (junk K fighter) improvements?
C'mon! If there's one thing about the V1 in need of an update it's BSM rejection capabilities for Buick, Honda, Mazda & Chryslers.

This will be a bittersweet update if you ask me.

No major radical changes could mean a lot of things from VR!

It's heap of sand phrasing. It could not be radical in the sense the unit still remains the "V1". As in it keeps a lot of the design philosophies and years of development as a foundation. That doesn't mean that internals arent changed in such a meaningful manner that would lead to R7 or better performance.

So for all of us reading this, don't get too excited one way or the other. This isn't a knock against the poster; VR is obviously limiting information being released and by doing so are creating confusion and hype. I think they know what they're doing. The best way to control information leaks is to simply limit what information is shared to begin with. I think only a key group of people actually know what's coming.

I do think it's safer to say we can expect some changes. As to what, we'll just have to see.

To add to my comment.

I think it would be a huge mistake not to offer performance improvements in filtering and FMCW K threat detection. No one in the industry seems to be doing the latter well, overall. The Radenso Pro M has pretty meh filtering as soon as you turn on MRCT, regardless of settings. The Uniden Rs have better filtering but performance is messy for forward facing systems.

So in typical VR fashion, if they released FMCW K threat support it would likely be industry leading. That's how they roll. Everyone else is offering these "features" but they're not nearly 100%. If it goes down like this, anyone complaining about the V1 is outdated can pound sand.. JK. But seriously, it woukd just show that the rate and quantity of updates doesn't necessarily indicate the level of R&D and product development. It's quality vs. quantity and many people forget this... me too.

Based on their "chirp compression" patent, it does seem like they have a roundabout way to specifically detect FMCW modulated radar. Having a few extra milliseconds notice of I/O or POP is all well and good, but I don't know if it in itself is worth the development time. Presumably this capability could also be rolled into "TMF3" to allow for filtering of the FMCW BSM falses that still give the V1 problems, as well as allow for MRCD/MRCT detection.

The same can be said with the V1 and it’s great filtering for mrcd detection. The women on phone said. Yes the V1 was built to pick up all detection and can alert to mrcd.

So when dialing the V1 in to detect mrcd waves. There is 0 filtering on anything.

So I beg to differ. the rate of quality on quantity of updates has meant very little for me when it comes to the V1
