I just spent a 600USD on uniden R7 and discovered its not detecting laser fixed radars, it detected only portable police lazer radars.
How did i know? ! I got my old 2014 cobra back and tried it and it detected the fixed lazer radars but it detect it right before it so it doesn't give you a chance to act thats why i bought the new uniden R7 but was total disappointment . I sent to the support but no reply so far for a week. Posted picture of the fixed lazer radar as well as my old cobra model no.
I compared the laser feature frequency in the cobra and uniden r7 and the r7 are with better range image attached

Is there any settings for that in the uniden?!!

You said that you can detect mobile LIDAR systems, but you cannot detect permanent stationary LIDAR?

For permanent stationary LIDAR, you may want to also consider using an application on your mobile phone to warn you when you are approaching locations known to have stationary LIDAR. If you are not allowed to use a mobile phone app for this while driving, you could look at a specialized device such as the Speed Cheetah C550.

LIDAR sensitivity is not very good with the Uniden R7. You may need to consider a system like AntiLaser Priority in order to better detect LIDAR.

If you face laser, get a laser jammer. ALP as mentioned above is a good choice. The R7 isn't good at finding laser, but it is very good at detecting radar.

If laser is a huge issue for where you live get a Valentine one, if detection only is what is desired.

The Unidens are no good for laser , at least not yet, they have issues seeing VPR laser

As others have said. Windshield mounted RD's are not good at picking up lidar.
Unless the LEO has bad skills.

and in most cases if you do pick up laser it's often too late to do anything as laser get your speed faster than you can react. laser beams are also very small in most cases, 3 ft wide when 1000 feet away so unless that hits your radar detector (and they are usually aiming lower on the car) it may not see it. The laser traps i drive through overhere my Rd catches about 50% of hits and sometimes it's long after ALP has alerted and jammed. If laser is what you face you need proper laser system. the R7 its a radar detector first, laser detection is an added bonus but it's not going to save you consistenly at all.

Mobile lidar?
I think he means the tripod-mounted systems that will be deployed for a day at a time in different locations before being retrieved and relocated elsewhere. It seems to be pretty common in Europe compared to North America.

The fixed laser unit you pictured appears to be a Vitronic Poliscan, which is difficult to detect due to how it is angled across the road. Additionally, it uses a variable pulse rate, which the R7 cannot detect in most cases.

Even though both the Cobra and Uniden are looking for pulsed IR in the same region (~904nm), the R7 has additional filtering to prevent falsing to vehicle laser cruise control and anti-collision systems. However, this prevents it from alerting to VPR lidar. The Cobra has less/no filtering, so it alerts regardless of pulse rate.

My R7 doesn't detect fixed or mobile Vitronic Poliscan anymore, and since installing 1.50 on my R3, it doesn't detect it either.

Perhaps they have changed the laser filtering in recent firmwares (poliscan is around 100 pps, with a bit of variation due to the rotating mirror)

Yes, V1 is the king for poliscan detection, but also falses to Mazda's, Volvos etc

If it’s fixed locations you’re worried about just make a user mark on the R7 in those locations to warn you. It’s pretty rare for a windshield mount RD to both detect laser and do it before it has your speed. If your lucky you might detect some scatter off another vehicle but if you’re the target there is no way for any RD to give you any protection. For that you would need laser jammers.
