Perfectly normal. Look at all the friggin concrete and overpasses not to mention the center concrete divider. at those frequencies signals bounce and reflect off all that. The Uniden ramp up/ latch time is different than other detectors. Rather than getting a whiff of signal and then a 15 seconds long BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP , The unidens report "what they see" signal fluctuations as it happens. To me that is more important than having the aforementioned alert that may be one bar in strength and then 15 seconds of an annoying beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep

Very in line with what I used to see with my DFR6. That was one of my only two complaints with the unit (along with no Ka Priority) which ultimately led me to the R3. The DFRs don't exactly have the best ramp up. I mentioned in another thread about this recently that I realized that the visual alert meter was far more accurate than the audio alerts and I would tend to focus on the ramp up from the visual meter.
