You've been really consistent about this. Are you playing devil's advocate or do you actually have credible evidence? I kinda remember some cryptic posts which essentially amounted to hearsay or knowledge acquired from being in a somewhat related field. Might not have been you but either way I don't remember actually learning anything concrete.

I've taken more of an agnostic approach with a sense of optimism. To be honest, and I'm not really following this VR nonsense since I can just ask them like anyone else, I've seen more from the other side of the argument that at least makes me wonder.

It would be cool, and I apologize if you've already done this, if you would share why you're confident there isn't going to be a major update when the V1 goes back in stock.

With all the craziness going on with the forum I would like to think this consistent stance is based on something meaningful. I won't go as far to say you're being a bit of a troll, but if you're wrong.. well it won't matter because I'll be enjoying a newly updated V1 then.

Idk, I've just seen your name come up enough whenever I'm in this section to finally wonder what the hell I'm missing. I'm hopeful you can provide good insight to all of us rather than continuing to make claims which might confuse less familiar users. It's one thing to speculate and put your hypothesis out there. It's a little much in my book though, when you're commenting to users as if you're an employee of VR. Either you have actual information or you don't. If you don't, I'm gonna guess youre riding this train out, right or wrong. Wrong in my book, as in maybe you should refrain, if you're directly responding to users without any meaningful information to support your claims. Again, trollish is harsh but at what point are you adding to the confusion?
Amen!

We're all speculating here which is fine...….it's a good workout for the gray matter and helps pass the time (four months and counting). Hell, it's a fundamental characteristic that separates us from the apes.......we like to sit around and reason things out.

It only becomes a problem when we start confusing strong opinions with facts.

Now I have a very strong opinion that NOBODY has a bonifide fact outside the walls of Valentine Research........if they did, then they are most likely an x-employee fired for leaking it (ha ha).

So here is a fact.......I'm speculating. And I'm speculating that a friggin LED or control knob did not shut down production for over four months and give Mike the preposterous idea of jacking up the price on a 13 year old hardware platform. Now some will argue that's not a fact but that is the last time Valentine had to certify any changes with the FCC.........and you monkey with the RF section of your detector you better do that.

That said, Transponder could be totally right. It would just shock the crap out of me. If they are crazy enough to make customer wait 4 months AND pay more for last years......last decades.....model, they will probably wait another 4 months just to sell one. On the other hand, being out of production for that long and a price hike on a NEW model would just keep them on back order until everyone on RDF has one. (Ha ha).

Hey, the V1 is still a tremendous detector and I would probably be daffy enough to buy another if they didn't change a thing, so don't take the above as a bash. I just can't believe the next major overhaul of the V1 will extend past this HUGE stoppage in production.

I see that angle but I'm going with something new is on its way. You may be 100% correct minor facelift but maybe just maybe it's the latest and greatest. It's more fun wishing for a positive then waiting for a negative.

History has shown the opposite. Sure hardware and fw changes have been made. exterior wise. It’s been the same old same old.

Ppl ask for proof that the V1 isn’t going to change. But I’d ask the opposite. What proof if there that anything will change ?

Not changing is what mikes business plan was from the get go. He has the V1 so refined to what he wants it to be that there has no been no change to the hardware in at least 7 years and fw for like 5 years.

I said it before and I ll say it again. Mike could have given more range a over decade ago when the OG redline came out and didn’t Numeric display same thing. 20 years ago escort and bel had numeric display and voice. Mike didn’t change

I get it..... They have hired new people in the past 6 months and that I saw as a sign of positive change. In the past 25 years I have spoke with Mike several times and yes I agree set in his ways but he is not going through life with his head buried in the sand. Once uniden came out with the R7 I have to believe a fire was lit under his to make V1 a flagship detector again. This is just us guessing what they are up too.

What have or what would the release of the R7 do that all the other detectors released in the last 15 years failed to do when it comes to “lighting a fire” under mike?

Im sure in 20+ years of the V1 existence. Mike has hired new ppl

The V1 has always been mikes “flagship” because that’s the only detector he has ever sold.

Mike does things his own way. He doesn’t really respond to the “competition”.

For clarification, current firmware (including the nearly 6 months of them being out of stock) is roughly 3 years old. :)

Let's just see what happens in the next few months, weeks or days. Like I said none of us have a crystal ball so we will know some time in the near future. If VR went AWOL for 5 months for any other reason then new product he should open a hotdog stand in a vegan supermarket!

Here are the facts as I know them. I have emailed VR about 4 times. I got two responses and two no responses.

The first response I have posted in the “intermediate” level which most of you all have seen about the parts and TMF filtering. The second response, and I will post that shortly in the “intermediate” level thread, basically says there will be a price increase to “$400 something” and more bla bla about parts. They also said they are taking pre-orders. Those are the facts. I have the proof and it will be posted in intermediate

But the 2 no responses was when I point blank asked them if there was going to be any upgrade or new display to the V1. These were not random inquiries but followed ups immediately after baiting them with “when will the V1s come in?” And “ are you taking pre-orders?” They quickly responded within one day and I immediately followed up with the question- about if anything new is coming out. They did not respond. If they were in fact coming out with anything new, I would actually expect them not to respond to my stupid question.

That’s all I got to share. Maybe the different pieces to the jigsaw puzzle will piece together something we can draw conclusions from.

Well if it's the same unit I will just cancel the transaction and stick with my Radenso M for now. If it's a complete overhaul then I have 2 coming my way.. Nothing ventured nothing lost why would MV be applying for new patients at his age?

Because Patents are worth MONEY (licensing rights or selling outright plus can be used to protect ones product, just like the patented arrows were used)! And because once they are approved in two or three years, I could see VR releasing an improved completely update version of the V1.

In my opinion right now there is nothing new coming from VR in actual performance improvements. We might get a display make-over or Mike could have been working on BSM with a TMF3 update. Again this is all based on the company's pervious history, my knowledge of electronics and the industry in general, my experience to three huge supply line interruptions (toroidal transformer factory burnt down, part no longer being produced and spec'ing a new one out with new manufacture, and a part nobody would make for us anywhere so the whole circuit it went into has to be completely redesigned). There are several "Custom" parts in the V1, one which is only made by one company in Costa Rica. So yes, it could take 6 months to get replacements before a production run could be done.

And yes, at the beginning of this, I had a very frank conversation with VR about why they were out of stock and a followup three weeks later and again was given the exact same reason, manufacturing run of current V1 to restock inventory is being held up due to lack of parts for that production run. This also makes sense because if a new model was coming out it would most likely be using newer available parts hence no need for a delay for a production run IE any actual new model would already have been run off and stacked up in a warehouse before they even ran out of the current model V1.

This is NOT trolling, this is logical and supported by the actual available facts. Wild speculations and shouting a "New" V1 is absolutely coming (when there is no verifiable evidence of that) is actually Trolling.

I would love to be wrong and see an improved V1 that competes directly with Radenso and R7 coming out in a month, BUT there are no new magazine ads, no changes or announcements on the website or by the company.

Except, I'm about to buy an OLED TV, It's the same as last years barring some minor gamer crap, but it's more expensive. I'd like to be able to buy last years, but they're all gone.
VR has not played this game for 13? years. I wouldn't begrudge him a price rise.

More importantly, there is a marked difference in usability and performance and extensibility between a 13-year-old V1 and a current version.

Just got off the phone with V Research, the gal that answered the phone said they hope to start shipping in a couple weeks and there is NO design change.

“I called and they said this.”
“I called and they said that.”
“I emailed and they said the other.”

I’m happy to just wait and see what happens. Could be nothing changes. Could be a slight revision. Could be a major release. Could be the same price. Could be a raised price. Until it actually happens we’ll never know who’s telling the truth and who’s getting good info versus not.

Since when has Mike ever cared what ppl think
Very true Mike does what he does and answers to nobody. hence his direct to market no middle man pays no royalties business model. If the V1 is just marginally better then he has missed the boat.

I get it. It had been over a month since I called last and was interested in any update. I like to get my info from the horse's mouth and have no reason to doubt what the gal told me.

The thing with mike is this. How many ppl in the industry really have more knowledge and experience than mike? I’m sure if mike sat down and gave technical points on why he does the things he does. I think pretty much all of us at the end would be shaking our heads in agreement regardless of what we want in a detector.

I wanted a V1 that had a lot of the features that competition had while retaining V1 dna. But it never to fruitation. It was hard to me accept at first. But I can to the realization mike vision day 1 is what he really meant from the get go. Like I said. Mike could have given more range and a numerical display a long long time ago. I’m sure mike with his think tank. He could have found a way around to get a gps in there.

U got to ask yourself why he didn’t do those things. And really be prepare accept the answer.
