LMFAO - he most likely has a custom designed, remote mounted system.

He strikes me as an eccentric pioneer with his own private masterpiece.
Maybe he has been working on a remote unit and that is a prototype in testing

Here's another thought:
It's mounted up high just like he recommends and you can't see it.
Can't see mine up there either.

Probably time to close out this thread. It is like the prior dozen or so before it. "A couple weeks and waiting on parts". Near pushing half a year soon with this parts shortage stuff. Mike should be sending Johnboy royalties for the last several years as without him the V1 would be outdated with all the newer units out there. The filtering is so good on units like the R7 that without upgrades to range, more informative display and gps it's not a mainstream product. It's build quality is like a tank and there is some value in that but feature wise and range it's not close to what is out there these days. Add in no user firmware updates (doesn't need much since it's built in features are so few compared to newer units) and without bringing it up to par with other units out of the box functionality there is little compelling to spend $500 on a unit that needs an app which is supported by someone who at some point may lose interest.

I just don't see it happening. New V1 chatter has gone on for so long and still continues while nothing every materializes. I get Mike is revered to no end but maybe this is the end of the line.
Filtering good on R7? V1 with its dated k muting logic way more quiet then R7.

He may have it mounted off the headliner, it's not very hard to accomplish and extremely stealthy.

Maybe Mike packs it away when he's not driving the car. When I'm driving and stop for lunch or dinner on the road, the V1 and GPS get put in their respective cases and locked in the trunk.

Mines mounted up high and barely visible from the outside. Likewise, I take it down if I'm going to be parked for awhile. No reason to let it cook in the sun or give thieves a reason to break into my car. :)

Yeah and forum members are going to the company building each week and posting about it. I went to see if they are still in business and alot of members don't have the resources or schedule to head to Ohio like I do. So I was alot of people's eyes and ears by going there. If you don't like the thread, click out of it.

A typical drive I have one or zero false K alerts. That's the norm for me. Not much room to get better unless there is never a false like when just running Ka.

That info means very little without a fair amount of details. What's a typical drive; where, how far, times of day, etc.

Around 20 miles round trip, sometimes a little more or less. Not city but normal traffic during the day. In central jersey so there are a fair amount of cars even on the secondary roads here at all times unless its very late at night. I had the R1 and R3 before the last firmware update and I had K turned off on those units as I couldn't get the falsing down but maybe I just didn't spend enough time with the settings. So many falses that I would ignore the alerts completely. Sorry to sidetrack.

It is easier to be quieter when it has half the range of the R7

Most likely Mike has a netgear with a full ALP system.

He is probably not even using his own detector anymore.

Not about range rather auto muting low level k alerts. My R7 is at 40% so I'd say k range is same as V1. But my V1 would mute all low level k alerts and mute rear k.. While r7 in traffic is a Xmas tree k here k there k everywhere 1to 2 and level ones which should just be muted like V1 did even with out jbv1

As much as you drive, you do know that over 500 people are killed a year in vehicle accidents due to objects they left on their rear deck lid?!!! Even an empty box becomes a killer when a vehicle stops instantaneously during an accident and flies off the rear deck hitting passengers in the neck or head. Of course umbrellas are some of the main killers.

A State Trooper up north was found dead in his car (POV) after blowing a tire after joining a high speed chase on his way home from his watch. He had his seat belt on but the blown tire went at the worst possible time and he hit an overpass bridge pillar stopping the speeding vehicle immediately. The ME figured it out a couple weeks later after looking at photos of the inside of his car. The ME noticed a travel size box of Kleenex on the floorboard of the passenger seat. It came off the rear deck lid and the corner of the box hit the Officer in the neck from behind killing him instantly. Imagine what a laptop or printer would do.
You don't think the g forces of impact tore his aorta as happened to Diana, and a good friend of mine? It's very common in high speed head on crashes.

Read another thread then. There is, at this point, essentially nothing to talk about for a 20 year old RD if this topic is off limits. May as well close the entire V1 subforum with this logic.

Your post should be deleted.

You took the words right out of my mouth. This forum has turned into a wasteland, so it’s nice to talk about something until Valentine opens up sales again. It’s not like there is a flood of threads taking up valuable real estate. I didn’t understanding why the others got locked down. It’s good to see people getting excited and speculating no matter what ends up happening. I’m actually a proud R7 user, but used to use a V1 and would love to see them back on top again. I respect the product and like to see people enthusiastic about it.

Thanks for making the trip!

The re-release of the Valentine One is one of the most anticipated events in recent history. Some people want to talk about the possible reason(s) for the break in production and if it is actually tied to a design overhaul and new product release. Is that not one of the primary reasons we come here, to try and reason cause and effect, play with puzzles and peek into the future...….ie speculate?

I myself find it hard to believe they have been off line this long due to a single part or two. Maybe the whole fabrication of the PCBs inside had to be relocated (out of China ?) possibly...….and that would take a significant amount of time to reboot a new contractor. But, the stars would seem to be aligned for a change over to an updated platform. If nothing else, this gap in production alleviates having to eat a months worth of sales due to returns and exchanges for the new model.

Anyway, tidbits like this are interesting. Might as well let at least one thread run on this topic until V-Day.

No, that is why the ME had to go looking elsewhere IE no torn aorta found during the autopsy. After finding the travel size Kleenex box, they were able to match it up with the point of impact on his neck determining that impact killed him. ME said it was probably a double whammy timing wise, his head and neck were probably starting to snap back from the impact when the box flying forward hit is neck.

Actual V1 users will decide matters like that.
Are you one?

Interesting. I'm not doubting you but that must be one hell of a box of tissues. Did he have a detector hidden in it?
Still I'm safe, my car has headrests.
