Anyone found a visor clip that would work with the R7

Oops I see Vortex mentions using the Radenso clip and shaving it down an 1/8 of an inch ( I guess with a file )
Vortex is on top of everything
Thanks Vortex

There are 2 ways to go to get a lock. You can shave off the end or open the slot by the same amount with a small file. I prefer enlarging the slot until you get a click.

Enlarging the slot on the top of the R7?

I feel safer shaving the clip

Make sure you order the XP clip. I used a Dremel, but you could easily file or sand down the leading edge which inserts into the detector; it only takes a small amount (1/8th inch?) to get it to "click" into the R7 (or R1/R3). I have mine inserted into the headliner vs. on the visor. I think you will like it.

Does radar need to be level or straight? Or can it be slightly up or down or to the side?

Preferably square with the vehicle and level. Left or right turn isn't to big of a deal, but vortex did some testing on cobra up and cobra down and it can have a pretty big hit on performance.

That looks like a nice clean setup not sure how you wiggled it in the headliner but does look professional
I purchased the clip but looking at the headliner of my car I might have to use the visor
Just excited to do a hardwire install so I can see the oled in daylight

How do you like your limited DashMat? I have been on the fence of buying that version, but wanted some input from an owner of one.

Wow good eye. That's the third one I've owned and I've been satisfied with all of them. Very form fitting, and you may not even need to use the enclosed velcro tape, unless you drive with your windows down a lot.

Hello Uniden
This is the perfect way to mount the R7
No bouncing and shielded from the sun
Not sitting on the windshield getting hot all day fro the sun
Sorry just saying

Hey
It worked great I filled of 1/8 in of redensoXP clip and I clicked right in
So now I can hardwire my R7 and visor mount the unit

But

I do t want to leave in the car while at at in t
Like 97 degrees

What do you use to unclick the R7 from the clip?

It’s a nice tight fight but it’s hard to get into disconnect

Thanks!

How do I unclick ? Pretty tight space once it click in
Plus I need to leave a bit of extra cord for room to remove when it’s to hot to leave in the car

But maybe you unplug the detector
Leave the clip in and remove the clip and R7 as one unit .

I have the insertion tab bent back a bit so it fits straight and level in the headliner, so it's not an issue for me to remove the detector. But without doing that, I know what you're saying, it's kind of a pain. I'm sure you'll figure something out.

Maximum Radar signal capture occurs when both antennas are in direct alignment to each other.

How did you modify the clip to slide under the headliner? In my car there isn't much room to slide something under it, so, I'd like to see how you handled.

I brought one of these and it works great, and i left mine in the car during the day it was hot, and it did not get hot at all while connected to the visor...

Look at some of the older threads and see what other people have done. I REM someone using a magnet mount.
Actually been mentioned few times.
And some other creative ideas.
