So what city, state or other do you refuse to speed? And why?

Clue's in the name
All of the citation fees should be distributed to every driver in the state in equal portions (as a discount on registration fees and, if that does not offset the registration fees, as a direct deposit) so that no state entity profits from it.

Eastham, Cape Cod, Mass - local cops. All they do is traffic. They are notorious. They made me a "habitual traffic offender" during the late 80's and during my youth (big box Escort days). They are just as bad still today. News Center 5 did a story a few years back and Eastham was rated the most ticketed place in Mass. It's all about the $$$. Even lowered the speed limits on the highway to get more unsuspecting tourists and in a hurry locals about 15 years ago.

There's one way to get this through, regardless of what politicians think: collect signatures, and put it on the ballot as a referendum.

Down in FL, anyone who drives across the state knows Waldo and Starke FL are HUGE hot spots for speed traps and known corrupt cops.

I never speed on back roads. I never speed with Kids in the cars. I never speed in thickly settled areas.

Highways are fun. I watch it along the Seacoast area of my state, I hate the NY truway and I will drive around VA if I ever have to travel south. LOL

Thickly settled/residential areas, completely agree on.

With kids in the car, if you're not speeding around here you're MORE likely to get into an accident. Most major highways run +15-20 (if they're not moving 5mph...), So going with the flow is definitely the safest option.

As for back roads... Well, back roads tend to be the fun ones. Obviously don't treat it like a racetrack and be mindful of blind corners, cyclists, etc.(and for Pete's sake don't cross the double yellow), but yeah, I'm opening the taps up a bit.

I drive slow in and near 1) ACTIVE work zones where there are people working not just a construction site 2) near a school 3) near a park that has a lot of kids crossing the street 4) when I am in a built up area 5) Commonwealth of Virginia over 80 mph even in a 70 mph zone is a criminal offence

On fast stretches of 2 lane fwy , each direction (ie I5 SF to LA) I now slow to psl +10-15 when passing semi trucks. The semi drivers often text and drift into lanes - or are just a holes pulling out in front of you. Not all of them, just a few.

There is a term called common sense. Unfortunately its use seems to have become even more scarce lately as identity based collectivism and virtue signaling are what’s trendy now.

The great thing about common sense, in addition to being a formidable tool for individualism and freedom, is that it can be beneficially applied to almost any situation or scenario.

So with that in mind, regardless of where you hail from, use common sense when driving. Part of this common sense is self awareness and understanding the capabilities of your vehicle particularly with respect to your driving environment. What may make sense for a skilled driver in a performance vehicle on a deserted highway could very easily yield less than happy results for an inept driver in a top heavy SUV on seemingly empty back road.

As far as specific places, I will not speed in NYC. Enforcement is fairly comprehensive and there are special courts which suspend many of the niceties we’ve come to appreciate in a legal system which is supposed to serve our representative based republic.

Virginia, I hate that state, cursed the whole ride through VA and was happy once I passed it. Needed to go to NJ and it was just a crap hole with all the fake aircraft vascar signs and driving through it with a Uniden R1. I usually speed, but if there is family inside or the lady, then it is only +10 max.

I rarely go over the PSL...anywhere.
Why?
I don't want to help pay for an attorney's carribean vacation.
I like paying low insurance rates.
I'm not in a hurry.
Are you being facetious? Otherwise, I'm not sure why you would be on these forums or even using a RD.

Sick of here...
Ah yes, good call on the parking lots! Truthfully, they're probably a bigger threat than school zones or residential areas.
Last week I kid you not... I threw my car into reverse and my cross detection warned me of peds crossing so I sit... parents and a kid cross... the kid stops turns and stares at my car in reverse... makes funny faces into the rear camera... the parents were still proceeding to their car... I honk because it’s been a good 30-45 seconds of this shit... the parents give me a dirty look... I roll down the window and some expletives roll off my tongue and I gave them a good piece of my mind... I told them if they don’t watch their kid or explain to him not to dawdle behind a car one day he will get hit by someone who doesn’t give two shits about looking behind them or hitting an eight year old who doesn’t understand the consequences of his actions yet in life... but he will once he’s in the hospital with 15 broken bones... or worse dead... and you will only have yourself to blame...

The father had the audacity to say yeah right buddy...
