That's two in 24 hours. Copycat much?

One positive piece of news in this tragic event is the shooter is dead. No lengthy trial, no chance for escape, no further burden on society, no recognition for the shooter during the trial...

Wow, just wow. This is bad.

I know this sounds conspiratorial, but I'm really starting to wonder about the frequency pattern of these murders. Is some group of anti-gunners or some rich and powerful people pushing these to cause exhaustion where weak people in public give up their rights? Consider this, one tactic would be to have so many mass shootings that people get exhausted and want it to stop at any cost, and will do or say anything to make it stop. Including giving up their rights.

The media is covering the scores of people lined up to donate blood. Volunteers are handing out food and beverages to the people in line.

This is when people become amazing!

It follows the typical pattern of murders in the summer when they are increased because of the warm weather. Once the cold weather in winter set in this typically stops. Ask any cop Homicides always spike in the summer months.

It would be better if it didn't require a mass shooting for all the peoples to do the same thing.

100% agreed, however, let’s be thankful that their remains some hope .
What hope John ? While people are getting killed, the government is not doing anything to help reduce these type of events. I know I am not from your country but as your neighbor I feel deeply concern about the numbers of gun in circulation in your country. It's worrisome for visitor like us.

I know, I agree. I was thinking the same thing yesterday about the El Paso shooting. And now this? I believe that copy catism is cetainly a factor. Yesterday they're nobodies living in their mother's basement, today they're national news. And unfortunately there's no shortage in the pool of unhinged people. I don't generally subscribe to conspiracy thinking, but statiscally this is getting really weird. America's a much tougher nut to crack regarding giving up our gun rights than other nations due to our history and form of government, so it would take something extraordinary to get enough Americans onboard with the idea.

The hope I was referring to is about society, the good people pulling together in desperate times. It is a good sign that people come together and that decency and human quality prevails at times like this.

I am not going to turn this into a political issue and not make this about gun control. This forum doesn’t have a tolerance for that and I respect and fully understand their wishes.

While it’s worrisome for visitors, trust me , it’s more of an issue when it happens in your own back yard.

Non-Americans will never understand the significance of the 2nd Amendment and therefore don't understand the gun culture in America. I don't expect anyone else in the world to get it. But if you were born here, and lived here, you would.

I don't think we can blame the items used for killing all the time. I think it's more so to do with improving mental health than anything. Lots of factors, it's not like it's difficult to get a weapon in Canada. I think improving education on weapons and a general improvement of mental health would go a long way.

Anyway, I'm glad to see a good community helping one another.

This cant be fixed by the government. Which is the problem in the first place, way too many are putting this in the politicians hands and it should not be.

You are correct. I do not understand it. I will leave it to that.

You would think we would learn to stop making these people famous. For the next week, we will know everything about these 2 shooters.

American's are more independent and freedom-loving than many other nationalities. Many are fiercely independent. We have a long history with it now. It goes back to our having fought the British for our independence, instead of taking more subtler, gentler approaches.

It might be because, some would argue, the government helped create this problem in the first place by creating various laws and cutting funding in certain areas that are core to the issues we're now seeing. Just putting that out there.

I once described it to a foreign national who worked for the same company but was doing training in the USA. Well, we're a country founded by a bunch of stubborn, independent, self reliant assholes who broke away from a crazy $hitbag King who wanted to control and tax us to death. So yeah, we're still massive assholes, have the largest military in the world, and more guns than anyone else. If you don't like it, too bad. lol Needless to say he didn't appreciate my opinion. lol

I'll bet not. We're not perfect, but usually our intentions are good and, generally speaking, that arsenal of democracy has served the world well.

I also said to him to consider that if some nation was actually stupid enough to invade the US mainland that they would get wiped out. He didn't understand. I said, imagine if somehow some nation magically destroyed the entire American military, which would be highly unlikely, then they would have to deal with the single largest armed civilian insurgency in human history. Yes any nation stupid enough to invade the American homeland would obliterated to the molecular level by the armed civilian population. The last I heard there's estimated 360 million guns and about 12 BILLION rounds of ammunition, that's with a B in private citizens hands. That's not even counting what the military has in active rotation and war stock.
