So i was turning around by making a left into a Wendy’s. The vid starts as I was leaving the Wendy’s parking lot, I get blasted by i/o k-band which the R7 sniffs from quite a good distance, however, it gave me a rear k-band alert (not in video) which had me looking completely in the wrong direction which imo is an arrow fail as the entire purpose of the arrows is to help me ID the source to increase my situational awareness. As I approached the leo (left hand side, dark unmarked car) the arrows corrected from center to front. Then as I passed him they went from side to rear as they are supposed too. R7 still needs some work as its horns failed at balancing reflection and successfully IDing the source.

Interesting video. Hard to say, maybe off axis had a bit to do with that? Were you the only person on the road at that time for him to shoot you?

Maybe it was the off axis shot and with the R7's rear horn being a bit more sensitive, it thought it was from behind? Thoughts?

Curious how a V1 or Escort would have handled that same situation.
The same or different ?
With all the signals bouncing around there is only so much that the device can do with the data.

In a situation that rich with reflective objects, and a detector with two horns that are as sensitive as the R7, I would treat it as a single horn detector to begin with. Give it a chance to stabilize, so to speak. I know that's not ideal, but I don't know how you expect Uniden to fix that. It's just telling you where it's getting the strongest signal (although I do agree that perhaps a very slight change/bias towards the front is in order). What would you have it do instead?

After using the v1 for over 10 years, ive never seen it do that, i feel like VR lab tests for specific situations where the detector may go bonkers and program it in a way to interpret the signal correctly. Perhaps in the age of digital detection, this may be much more of a challenge but i think with enough data, they can fix it. That was the main purpose for posting this video so the engineers can see it and try to recreate the situation (which others have experienced) and remedy it with more precise programming. VR had to do the same things at times, not everything worked smooth upon release (for example my v1 would J out real leo regularly with the TMF1 update , which would force me to do a hard reset each time it did this, whole i was driving. It stopped when i updated it again with TMF2. i hope in some way this data helps Uniden. It ultimately did correct itself.
