Is anyone with a V1 seeing Honda BSM at 24.160?

The way to tell if it is 2019 or newer pretty easily is the tail lights have a clear plastic insert in the middle.
Okay! I think I was following one of those out of a rest stop in northern NC (Exit 6 on highway 23). I do recall the taillights because they are very similar to my own. But, I can't prove it. I'll be sure to look for more! (I need to get a dashcam!)

A dashcam would be good. ;)

I did a little further research after being next to a new Pilot late yesterday momentarily without getting a BSM. It turns out that the 2019 Pilot LX trim does NOT have BSI (Honda's BSM monitoring). I probably need to go grab the dashcam footage now to see if there is any trim level indication.

It appears that at least on the 2020 model (and probably on the 2019), the bottom of the rear bumper is all black, so what I saw (which had a silver insert at the bottom of the back bumper) was an EX, which has BSI. However, it was also stopped at a stoplight (see below). I have heard (don't know for sure) that Hondas deactivate the BSM at a stop. So still not sure. Need to be next to one while moving.

[EDIT: watchged the rest of the video, we actually did start moving and I let myself get in what should have been the BSM spot. No alert, but didn't see an indicator on the mirror either. So don't know. Maybe TMF2 is filtering it out. Need more evidence. Will keep running the V1]

OK, so found out Honda BSI only works if the vehicle is traveling 20 MPH or more.

Thanks. I was also thinking filtering was going on.

Still don't know for sure. That's the $64,000 question (for us older members).
Aside from the Honda, you were in moderate- heavy traffic, and I did not hear the V1 beep unless it was muted.

I really wish manufacturers would release accurate info on these systems. We are left to decyfer so much about them.

Here's what I know from my own vehicles.
2018 Accord with BSM / cross-traffic monitoring, reverse camera on the back and near-field proximity sensors in the bumpers.
(There are BSI sensors in the quarter panels and 4 dime-sized sensors on the back bumper and 2 sensors on the front bumper.)

It's been my experience that disabling these systems using the car's buttons and menus simply results in the driver not being alerted. I'd expect the same is true at the 20 MPH threshhold for the Pilot. I don't think they actually power down / up the BSI radar system at 19 to 21 MPH.

As shown in my BSM video a while back, I can easily get a handful of BSM related signals from my own car sitting in the driveway. (TMF2 off) But, I do have cross-traffic monitoring that alerts me when in reverse so it could be different on a vehicle without the cross-traffic feature.

My Wife's 2018 CR-V has BSM / cross-traffic monitoring and the reverse camera but not the dime-sized proximity sensors. I'll have to check on hers again to see if I get BSM's only from her car (with my car off) when hers is parked and running. From my last test I didn't think it changed around 20 MPH but I didn't put a lot of effort into that.

Having said all of that, I'd bet that the stopped but running Pilot (if equipped) simply didn't "indicate" to the driver that you drove by.

We'll have to do more investigating!

I think you are spot on with your analysis. I was stopped behind 2 Acura MDXs at a traffic light and there was so much filtering going on that the heartbeat just about stopped, like it was in cardiac arrest. IME these BSM systems transmit all the time, they just don't alert the driver below certain speeds or if they are disabled. The BSM systems that GM uses transmit even after the driver leaves the car and locks it. They don't stop transmitting until the interior lights go into auto power down!

The amount of K noise has to be insane these days. I ran my R7 against the MRCT cam near my place and it didn't do bad at all. But what I've noticed is the amount of traffic (K noise) impacts performance. On one run there was a new Ford in the adjacent lane slightly ahead of me, and it seemed to impact RF detection significantly. It makes sense though after seeing Radenso's video on BSM. Ford's look similar to MRCT and the Rs do an excellent job of filtering out MRCD/MRCT falses. That filtering doesn't come for free though.

The V1 always seemed to do a good job of filtering without getting bogged down.. always impressed me.

I've wondered quite a bit about the background noise level on the roads these days. :)

I completely screwed up a great chance to get some video footage of the V1 falsing to a new Pilot at lunch. I forgot to put my memory card back in my dashcam this morning. :ughh:

So I decided to drive by the local Honda dealership and lo and behold, I ended up on the access road behind a new Pilot driving towards the dealership. It just so happens that there is a Fedex Office just a bit before you get to where the Honda dealership is that has door openers in the 24.167 range. So they may be locked out by JBV1 by now. I'm going to post my log and those that can interpret them better than I can explain what we are seeing.

Which alert was the Pilot? The 24.162 at the end?
Can you check your JBV1 logs for the last time you drove down this access road and see what the locked-out FedEx door looks like on its own?

Maybe I missed it @Brainstorm69, was TMF2 off?
(If so, I can believe that the 24.162 might be it.)

12:11:24 seems to be the first alert beyond the Fedex Office

This was with TMF2 on...my point being that I think I did get a false to it from the V1 today.

I believe everything on the log after 12:11:24 was the Pilot. With TMF2 on. But as you can see, it was not completely stable on one frequency. I really wish I hadn't forgetten to put my memory card back into my dashcam. It would be much easier to see. Here are the alerts with satellite view of the Honda dealership parking lot

Here's yesterday's satellite view of the dealership parking lot when I saw the CRV.

Saw a Pilot on the way into the office this afternoon. Got the video this time. Mainly in the 24.16x range, with some short forays in 24.17x and even 24.18x territory.

Here is the summary log page from JBV1. My dashcam timestamp is about 3.5 minutes ahead of my phone time.

I'm going to have to try harder to find a 2019 Pilot!

Yes you are! It appears that the 2018 or 2019 Honda Pilot is spewing 24.16x that the V1 detects even with TMF2 on.

Now I've got Elton John's "Take me to the Pilot" stuck in my head.
