I went to the motorcycle races a week back and chatted with CHP guys at a booth there.
After using BMWs for years, CHP went to Harleys about 4 years ago. After lots of problems, they are going back to BMWs.

... literally one of the guys in the booth said the Harleys were lucky to get over 110mph.
The other bigger issue was constantly going into the shops, low life expectancy.

You won't see them on the road until spring 2020. They will replace them as they age out, like the Crown Vics replaced with Explorers. You can still see the odd Crown Vic now...

Clue's in the name
When I was first getting into motorcycles, everybody I trust told me the same thing: avoid Harleys. They're overpriced and will spend more time in the shop than on the road.

Yeah but how can an accountant be cool unless he rides a Harley a couple weekends a month?

I can’t believe they even considered going to HD bikes. For the weekend warrior, I think Harleys are cool. But, you are going to work on them as much as you ride them.
