Probably texting :argh: I even gave them an "out" by moving to the shoulder when I saw them coming in hot.

Now that's some excellent situational awareness. Glad it wasn't you who bore the brunt.

So many people, even those who are paying attention, drive by staring at the road 100 feet in front of them. This is another CM advantage; we are constantly scanning as far as our eyes can see 360°. In this case the 0 and 180° scans saved your hide. Excellent reaction to both the front and rear threats.

What a moron. Only other thing you could have done was honk your horn as you got out of the way. Glad there was room in the adjacent lane for you to move into, otherwise you would have been screwed.

Yeah you handled that perfectly. They did not. It seems like they did try to brake but never even thought about evading by simply changing lanes or diving into the median even. Driver’s licenses are still way too easy to get.

Great intuition on your part. I probably would have been toast, thinking he would slow down once he was on my a$$. Lots of drivers zip up right behind before bothering to slow down.
Glad you played it well!

Did you stick around to support the victim, give a statement to the police or offer to provide video? Just curious because I figured if I ever captured something like that, I would do so.

Nice avoidance of a wreck. People just fail to pay close enough attention at some points... he even had left plenty of following distance so there was time to correct, but they still failed to do so... You would think the swerve you did would have clued them in and given them the idea to sweve too

Ya can't fix stupid......and nice move to the shoulder. My wife always asks me why I stop so far behind cars when at a light....now she knows.

I went back and looked at earlier footage, and it's somewhat poetic that drivers of both vehicles were LLHs that I had to pass on the right about 6 minutes earlier. :sotw: Can anybody make out the Buick driver through the tint?

No I was really pressed for time. Plenty of folks behind me were pulling over to the shoulder to render aid so I didn't feel too bad about not stopping.

Seriously, they really wanted to own the left lain. You can see in the original video they guy slowed down hard just before hitting, yet he didn't think to change lain's? Morons....

Wow! Good situational awareness BTW! It’s always my first instinct to look in the rear view when hard braking occurs. Glad you got to ride through that one!

Glad you saw them coming in hard and fast. When traffic slows like that I turn on my flashers as it helps sometimes. In the old truck - I turned on my storm chasing yellow light bar in the back window. (got it since people tend to be stupid during storms even) Been about hit storm spotting a lot of times sitting off almost into the ditch. Spin

It amazes me how most people have no defensive driving skills. Today, some idiot pulled out in front of me and had to get on the brakes and I moved to go off onto grass if needed.
