Heads up that City of Wilson is running K band! They were running it yesterday along Airport Blvd NW- appears to be dash mounted systems. Patrol cars were stark white and older looking (crown Victoria ?)- not the more common dodge chargers. I ran smack dab into K twice (going and coming) and wasn’t paying attention due to K’s rare encounters and so many Honda BSMs. Freq was somewhere around 24.120 - 24.140. This was concerning. I was using the R1 with K filters enabled and K at 60-70%. I usually ignore the K blips and I did this time - but glancing over at some point and thinking oh-$&@, there was a full 5 bar alert in a K range not used by Honda. And there were no cars on the road in front or behind- which is always a clue. This was C/O K. I didn’t see any patrol car going but I did on the way back an hour later, and they had someone pulled, and the K alert went full tilt as I passed.

I have no clue on range since I am use to ignoring K alerts. Uniden really needs to add K block to the R1 and 3s. This was potentially a dangerous situation.

I have always encountered Ka 35.5 over the years there but this was a first.

Update- I messed up. Sorry. There was no K band here. I was fooled and jumped to a conclusion which wasn’t right. The city has a temp K band speed sign belted or strapped around a utility pole on Airport Blvd shooting 24.109- 24.111 K band north from where State Farm Insurance is. What fooled me was a city PD had a speeder pulled over right there, and my eyes zeroed in on the car and not the speed sign which I saw and confirmed this morning.

I will leave this correction up for maybe 2 weeks and then change the thread title to something more generic regarding K use in NC.

So to be clear- no police K was likely used to pull the speeder over in this particular instance- a case of mistaken identity

Very Sorry for any confusion this caused :( this speed sign just recently went up and hasn’t been there.
