Tooling along at PSL +15 when I get a blip of 35.5 so start covering the brake pedal. As soon as I start getting a stronger signal, it's anchors away and lucky that! If I would have waited any longer, it's possible I would have been on the side of the road trying to talk my way out of something.

Sorry about the crackly microphone on my A119. I might have to take it apart and have a look-see. Maybe a loose connection.

I'm going to go ahead and call this a save. LOL

Nice to have those arrows, without them, I would have had to drive gingerly for the next few miles until I felt safe again.

@darkpenguin @Tallyho @GTO_04 Look familiar? A little similar to a certain test course maybe? ;)

I am wiring up my "ghetto arrows" as I type this. Redline O to the rear with K band off. @Kennyc56 where in the rear windshield do you mount your Redline?

So he was hiding in that tree line shooting you in the back
Yep. Seems like there's been a concerted crackdown effort around here lately. State and county are much more active in the past month or so.

That's the plan, ehenever VIOFO gets around to selling their 4K

At the very top dead center and level with a sticky cup mount. I tried a suction cup mount and a ebay tape mount, but my back glass in my 99 mustang is too angled. The sticky cup works perfect! I have the Redline hardwired with the R1 from the same fuse tap and kill switch.

Was it WSP or County Sheriff in this video?

Sauk County.
WSP runs 34.7 and more C/O, but they do run I/O as well.

I actually got a rear hit from WSP this morning on my way to work. They went through behind me on a highway perpendicular to the road I was on and about a half mile back.

Generally, if it's just a blip, like the first one in this encounter, I check frequency while covering the brake just to make sure I'm not slowing down for cobras or satellites. If it's legit, I coast down unless the signal get's more insistent, like in this case, then I drop anchor. LOL

When it's immediately insistent, it's anchor drop time of course, I don't even bother to check the frequency then.....Like in this other thread:

I should start a thread catalog like @Brainstorm69 s testing results thread, but entitled, "OBeer's Brown Shorts Collection".

haha You should definitely make that Brown Shorts Collection!

Yeah, that hover-foot-over-brake strategy for a blip works "most" of the time; i.e. the vast majority of CO encounters, plus all those normal duration IO shots that are rear-facing in moderately easy conditions, or even FF traps where LEO's aren't very selective.

But definitely not so well for forward-facing, distant, super-selective LEOs, maybe shooting once every few minutes, or even closer-positioned fast I/Oers or QTers, especially when terrain and conditions drop off. In your case, angle was added to the equation too!

:derp::psyboom:

No doubt the LEO in your vid was sneaky ... but definitely could have been even sneakier/quicker/less detectable. He probably would have nailed you if he had used a faster shot then shut it off as soon as he got a speed from the car ahead of you.

That single blip would have been all you would have heard before you were in the kill zone. Then he'd be watching your brake lights as you stomped on the brake because of your now-urgently-alerting R7, which btw, probably lets him know you've got a detector - that never helps.

I'm definitely very paranoid after many many close calls over the years, so personally, I don't need any more info other than there's a blip of Ka in the vicinity. Which reminds me of the funny signature quote one of the old-timers had (I forget who it was, and he rarely posts anymore) it was something like "I'm gonna have to start braking when I hear a Ka alert" haha

Glad you came away unscathed!

If that guy had not sapped the guy in front of you and held the trigger through waiting for you to drive by you would have been toast.

One bleep of KA =instant anchors.

I don't think that cop is hidding from detector users , he is hiding from WAZE users, in Florida they move several times once they are reported on one spot, leaving a trail of Cop pins all over.

In my opinion, if I see several cop pins I take it seriously, that is means a super active LEO moving around.

It happened to me on the way back from Savannah, there was a pin on waze, passed it and nothing there, but the R7 was warning for KA, I kept it slow, sure enough a mile ahead the LEO found a better hiding spot and he was not reported , he blended in so nicely I would not had seen them if it was not for the R7.I dropped a pin on him to ruin his fun.

Just to clarify, usually it's foot over the brake after a blip AS I coast down to PSL. I completely agree with you that in this situation the strategy could have gotten me into trouble. He also could have waited until I came around before triggering his gun and I would have been toast no matter what. Risk vs Reward I guess. I wonder if other RD's would have given me that blip?

I'm the same as you and @hiddencam As soon as I hear that first chirp or double brap I'm on the slow pedal! Sometimes its awhile before I see LEO, sometimes not. I was haulin' ass (97mph/75 psl) a couple of weeks ago and got only one R3 chirp. Immediately drop the anchor! I met DPS Tahoe 3.1 miles later (6+ mile detection). I'm ok slowing down. Last ticket was 1998 from a Texas DPS Trooper. I vowed it would be my last! Asshole wrote me for 75 in a 70.
