Hello all, new to here and looking for some advice. I have had a few detectors over the years, 8500 x50, 9500ix, and escort IX. Recently I got a 9500ci with the upgraded laser shifters for a very cheap price. Initial testing showed it worked but after installing and leaving it on the car for a few months, but with no power hooked up, it now says check reciever wiring. Sent to escort and they noted it was water damaged and a new one would be 400, although they did offer a discount for the trouble I had with customer service. I am looking to see if it's possible to repair this thing or run the system without a radar reciever someway, maybe with a dummy reciever. I opened up the reciever myself and it doesn't look too bad, a little bit of corrosion but not terrible. I can post a pic if anyone wants to see it.

Welcome to RDF!

I'm not sure about repairing it, but I've seen some of these for sale for less than $200. You might find something. Also when you gain access to classifieds you can let members know you are looking for one.

Welcome to RDF! Sorry to hear about your situation. I would have taken the same route as you initially and after hearing $400, I would follow @CA90 advice or put that money toward a newer system.

Welcome! You're in the right place to figure this out. I would try and find a used one to buy. Repairing those typically doesn't work especially if it's water damage. Wouldn't waste your time.
