Good evening Gentlemen, i am a long time lurker and first time poster. I consider myself an average user— my equipment includes 1 valentine one, and 1 R7 (recently purchased and not as happy as i was with the v1), and an uninstalled alp 4 jammer system that i cannot find the time for. Thank you for all of your contributions. I have learned vastly from this forum.

The other day beside my post office was a Maserati Levante with what seemed to be a CM. I do not know what it is though. There is a second sensor in front. Does anyone know what this is?

I think it's a K40 Defuser G5. They're living a false sense of security using that in New York.

Welcome to RDF! What do you prefer about the V1 over the R7?

Hey Matt, i love the v1’s construction. Every time i reach over to mute the r7, the front trim panel shifts. Also, i miss having the analog dial. Being able to keep it off with a switch rather than having to turn it off every time. Everyone says the r7’s range is spectacular but i dont know, i haven’t had many long range encounters since i bought the detector. Yet to feel the true power of this tool.

Yeah the V1 is solid from what I’ve read here. I ran Escorts for years and then switched to Uniden with the R3 & now R7. My trim panel shifts as well and it does bug you considering the cost of the unit, but I’ve learned to just ignore it the best I can. Terrain plays a huge role when it comes to range. I live in Southern RI and the longest detection I’ve had is probably a mile, with most being a half mile or less. You won’t get those killer range detections like you see on YouTube unless the radar gun is being aimed directly toward you on a flat & straight road that has little to no foliage, and light traffic. Those are ideal conditions. However, having an extremely sensitive detector like the R7 is a must if you drive where the roads have curves, hills, and lots of foliage or buildings lining the sides. The R7 has killer off axis detection which is very helpful when driving in tough terrain and will provide you saves where a less sensitive detector may not.

I unplugged an airbag cable without disconnecting the battery first when trying to find power for my radar detector up in the dome/ rear view mirror assembly. Car, otherwise runs perfectly. Its my first manual.

Yep, I unplugged my seat belt tensioner and the light came on. The problem is I don't have the tools to turn it off so I run with it too.
